Starter Motor

working on a RX8 with the old starter motor.

Does anyone know whether the bigger starter from the newer model (2008+) is a bolt-on replacement?

How about the starter motor from the Automatic, because those seem to pop up more frequent on the 'bay?

Thanks

You can either get a Series 1 upgraded starter that you know will work or you can search the forums because this has already been brought up.

Those will only work on automatics, not manuals.

Whoops, should've searched.

One thing i didn't find though, how hard is it to upgrade it yourself?

It's super easy, takes like 30 minutes including beer drinking time.

Just replaced my series 1 'H' starter with the 'Z' version.
The obvious difference between the starters is the significantly larger motor.
I'll have a look at the old one to see if a replacement of the electric motor is possible...
That said, the 'Z' starter is pretty cheap.

You would have to buy a new starter anyways to take the parts out of so it's pointless. Just buy the new one and swap it in.
