Starting problems
I was away for a year and just got back today and i tried to start my 8 and it wont start. i tried it a few times.then i called my friend so we can jump it but still wont start. also we tried it a few times so i got a new battery and it did start. the problem now is that i have to crank it up longer than usual before it start. I have the bhr coils and also plugs are new. im thinking it might be flooded from those times we tried to start it up at first. I will be checking the plugs tomorrow but if you guys have any input i appreciate it.

So the dealership said my cat is clogged and they will replace it under warranty. The thing is it takes 2 weeks for them to order the cat and this is my only car. Is it safe to still drive the car around. Also my coils and plugs are new. they were replace like 1k miles ago. what else could make the cat clogged?

mileage usually does in the cats, along with the natural oil burning of the rotary engine. 100k is about the expected lifespan of the cat. but i somehow doubt the cat will fix your issue. carbon could have caused the initial no start condition but i doubt it is causing the long cranking issue you have now.
reset the KAM by doing a 20 brake pedal stomp and let the car idle for 15 minutes. the adaptive memories also need to be relearned so drive normally for a few days.
for driving with a clogged cat, it's not advisable.

i still dont have any idea what could have caused it though. i only have 19k miles. they said they will also do service on the fuel system once they install the new cat. but i dont experience any symptoms of a clogged cat as defined here on the forums.

They probably don't mean clogged in the way you are thinking they probably mean the cat has been compromised. And if its covered under warranty consider yourself blessed you don't have to pay it. It don't take much for this cat to break just a little overexposure to rich gasoline too many times and the elements in the cat stop functioning correctly, start deteriorating, and blowing pieces into the honeycombed screen which in turn gets clogged.

cat was replaced today. when they check the car again the said its having a misfire on the leading. the tech said he pulled the wires and 1&4 spark is weak. does this usually happens with the bhr kit?
