MO Starting Trouble

Long time lurker first time poster.

Ok guys here is the trouble, yesterday morning i went to start my 8 and found it to barley go. It turns over and right as its about to start it putters and then runs. Driving it everything seemed ok, but today i got another issue, it seemed to barley start and now there is a clicking noise during idle. Sounds like a loose bearing or something. If you guys have any ideas please let me know, thanks in advance.

(haven't done my own research due to the horrible weather my town just experienced)

could be a few things, but first tell us more about your car- year/ mileage/ mods/ etc.
is there an unusual smell of gas after start?
When was the last time the car was serviced (ie plugs/ coils/ etc)

Ah ya sorry forgot that info:

2004 RX-8 (GT? has all the options)
Approx. 23,000mil

Bought it used this past December, and don't know any history of the service, plugs and coils and such. And no i don't recall the smell of gas but i'll get check it once more.

Also forgot to note, i did take off the intake manifold to get to get to the AIR solenoid for a CEL i got, but i put it all back and it ran fine on the several test runs i did.

check your spark plugs. If they're bad, change those, as well as your coils.
Check your starter to see if you have the upgraded one. (click link)

I'd also recommend that you do a full service of the car, since you don't know the history (plugs, coils, fluids, air filter and clean MAF sensor, eccentric shaft sensor..). I know that sounds like a lot, but you can do all (or most) of it on your own! This forum has a wealth of info

When I read this, I couldn't figure out why he was talking about barley, a type of grain used in cereal and malt beers...

I'd still make sure that you check those things I mentioned. Proper maintenance on this car is a must!
Good luck and happy reading!
