I have heard about this and have been searching but im just trying to find a quick fix so i can get to work.

Car was working fine last night, woke up this morning to go to work, turned car on and steering light is on and i have to force the wheel to move. I heard there is a connector to remove and clean or something just to get to work.

Im not a car guy so any help would be great just trying to get it to work real quick, if it stays working good if not i will take it to the dealership on Monday.

thanks ill do this when i get home and try to clean the connectors, what do i clean them with, and do i need to disconnect the battery?

 

ok so i didnt clean the contacts yet, but i pulled connector 1 plug replugged and disconnected positive battery and put back and my light is still on and power steering not working???

 

Clean the connectors and get back to us. The point of the first thread I listed was that for many members including myself CLEANING BOTH CONNECTERS with something like THIS fixes the issue.

 

Also you'll need to calibrate the steering sensor again. You'll need to turn he ignition on, turn the wheel all the way to the right, then all the way to the left. Turn the car off and back on again. Then the light should go off.

 

Have been driving my RX8 for 2months with steering light on/manual steering don't know what causing this,need to know what to do.

 

you need to do exactly what is already outlined in this thread by Expo1.

 

yep thanks to expo my car is up and running again, took out the air filter cleaned the connectors, and reset the steering sensor and everything is working great. Thanks for the help man as always this site delivers!!!
