Stereo & heater not working

Stereo & heater not working
Someone tried to install an FM interface in the stereo so that you could plug an iPod in directly without having to use an FM transmitter or an auxillary cable. Now the radio and heater don't work at all. I took apart the whole thing again and took out the FM interface completely and all the wiring for it, put it back together and still nothing. The red backlight on the display screen comes on but absolutely nothing works. There's nothing on the display at all, and since the climate control is all controlled on that screen, none of that works either. Any suggestions? Anyone else have that problem? If there's a fix other than replacing that entire unit, I'd obviously much rather go that route instead. Thanks!

I'm not sure this may be the case as i'm not that good when it comes to electronics but have you checked your "room" fuse and the other cabin ones?
They are located in a small compartment on the left side of the pedals, you should see it with the door open.

Having same problem........ I tried to install the xcarlink ipod intergratio kit. I installed it and realized that I broke my faceplate. So, I ordered new faceplate, installed it. Didn't work, installed the display. No luck. Somehow, I can play the cd using the steering wheel control.. Also, the fan works but no AC or heater................... Anyone for help? By the way, I checked all the fuse

I took the entire stereo out, checked all fuses, still doesn't work. The steering wheel controls don't work either because NOTHING is on the display. Just the red backlight. No numbers or anything at all. I can't adjust the temperature or fan direction, just the speed. Lucky for me it decides to blow warm air once every few days or so, which is helpful since it's single digit temperatures here in South Dakota
Anybody else know how to fix this??

LadyRenesis, I think u and I are in the same situation. I also get nothing but blank background on the display. Also, I can't control the temperature, and the fan direction. But, I can change the speed of fan. Mine is also blowing warm air. I think the reason why it is blowing warm air is because the engine gets warm LOL. By the way, does your eject cd button work? mine works. If so, try what I say. First, press eject button. If you have cd inside, it will spit out that cd. Try to put it back. Then, try pressing the volume button on the steering wheel. When you disconnect the battery, the volume is set to almost mute. So, if you increase volume, you will start to hear some noise. Then, press mode button. For sure, you will hear something. At least, that's what mine did. Again, I think you and I are in same situation. What you described is exactly what I'm experiencing. If you find something helpful, let me know LOL...
DocBeech: What do you mean by pushing the stereo til it seats properly? LOL Like where you mean?

jshin22: I will try that but I've pushed every button on the whole damn thing and nothing works haha, but I'll try it. I also don't understand what he means by pushing the stereo til it seats properly. I made sure it was firmly in when I took it apart and put it back together, FOUR freaking times! About the second time I hooked it back up I could hear the CD's moving around inside the CD player when I plugged it all back in, but after I turned the car on and everything nothing worked. I disconnected and reconnected the battery, re-set my ECU, checked all my fuses, and like I said, took apart and re assembled my stereo four or maybe five times. Hellllllpppppppppppppppppp! I need music. Oh and heat..but mostly music.

Ive also ran into this issue myself a long time ago< i found out that it was the actual solder connection in the back of the main circuit board- There are three main connections that allow the heater to work, sometimes they get weak and break. this problem is super easy to fix- the only issue is figuring a way to take out the center console to access the main board that controls the stereo/heater. and plus it saved me 1900 bucks doing it myself and it works real good now and havent had any issues since which was fixed about 2 years ago - fingers crossed

i had the same kind of issue, radio and all lights for t he heater controls would cut out after installing my mp3 link thing, when i removed the raido again my faceplate has come slighly away from the radio i snaped it back together fully, and made sure all wires were pluged in all the way and the problem went away,
it looks like if your not careful with the sterio and faceplate the metal studs taht hold the faceplate to the sterio can come out of the plastic or crack where it holds them together then this must cause some kind of lose of connection

Ordered used radio
I had the sound to my stereo stop working but everything else including display, cd, radio controls and heat all worked. I followed the instructions to remove the face plate and check the connections. Once I did that my display and heat/ac stopped working too. I redid it mutiple times and then ordered a used radio/cd/ac/heat on ebay for $165 includig shipping. I reinstalled and now I have everything but sound again including ac, heat and ability to change radio stations but no sound. I got a 6 CD changer out of the deal so if I get my sound back that will be a bonus. Otherwise I now have a place to store 6 CDs.
I have not had success finding a resolution to the no sound issue. I have searched the forums before and will do so again today. I have seen a few others with the same problem but no fix. Checked and changed all fuses ... unplugged speakers on both front doors to rule out a short .. stuill nothing ... guessing it is the main amp (seems each speaker also has their own) or a rear speaker ...
