Unhappy still VIBRATES!!

OK gang! Here goes my daughters car (05' with an automatic) vibrates when at idle and when in reverse. I used the the tech bullentin on the engine mounts and the really neat fix for filling them with the liquid rubber compound seemed to solve the issue for a while. Now that was a couple months ago and she says it is vibrating again and in reverse are there any issues with transmission mounts.
Also she keeps getting the ck eng light and when they read it at O'Reillys/ Autozone they keep saying gas cap then reset it and then couple days later it will come up again. Any ideals bad gas cap? Car has 62K miles on it with no other issues really that we have not been able to address.

Thanks for the help GANG

Sounds like the engine mount is out again, replacing the engine mount should fix the vibration issue.
As for the CEL, yeah, sounds like just a bad cap, if there no other codes showing.

As far as the gas cap goes, there are known issues with them. You can get a new one or just twist it until it clicks like 20 times.

Maybe idling rough (plugs, coils, wires) 62K on her ever changed?

Well gang I did put the SOLID Rubber motor mounts in a while back and also put new wires, plugs ,and the upgrade coils in; all total it probably has 6000 miles since all this was done, also had the brake fluid flushed out and replaced with he Valvoline Syntech Brake Fluid. Do you really have to twist the cap on that much?. Once the car starts it does shake a little in park or while in drive at a stop light but once under way it is fine with nothing at highway speeds.

I have an appointment with Mazda to have them check all the codes and see if there might be a vacuum leak somewhere else.

Any more suggestion's ?

Thanks Gang wro87

I give it a little 1/4 - 1/2 turn past tight. I guess it clicks about 5 times. To my knowledge, I've never had that issue.

Isn't there a mount under the transmission? Did you check that (wild *** guess)?

I have this issue as well, but the weird part with mine is that its only when the AC is on, if im stopped and i have the AC on it vibrates like hell, switch the fan control to 0 and it stops completely, maybe the same problem? Unfortunately i haven't figured out what the problem is yet.

Well She is taking her car off to the dealership this morning to have them read all the codes! Don't feel a good warm fuzzy about it since last time we had it there it took them over 3hrs ($120.00 ) to cut and program a key for the car!
Well I will keep the gang posted as to the outcome.

It's too late now, but there are locksmiths around (A-1 Locksmiths around here) that can both cut and program keys, if you only have 1, for around $50-$60

Angry

Well Just got off the phone with the dealer and now they think that the ENGINE might be going!!! They have contacted MAZDA and they want them to replace the coils, plugs, and wires, (told them that was all replaced just this spring and less than 6000 miles ago). Also I have just been informed that it is not covered by the Mazda extended warranty of 8 years and 100,000 miles. Well the car is a 04' with 62000 miles. LIKE WHAT THE $#2!!@$!$!@# is going on here!!! Can somebody point me to the TSB that states that the warranty was increased so I can deal with it in my hand. I have tried shearchng for it and can't seem to find what I am looking for.

I don't understand why they are refusing warranty.
It's 8 years or 100k miles, whichever comes first. The car is an 04 so engine is covered until 2012. Your mileage is well under 100k.

Here's the warranty thread: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/8-years-100-000-mi-extended-warranty-147287/

The rubber mount under the Tranny is a Dynamic Damper (vibration), AFAIK it does not take any load so I cant see how it would wear out?

not a good idea, simply because both keys would have the same key code, they will need your VIN number, AND if someone stole one, unless you want someone to come and drive your car away, you would have to re-program and kill all the old key code and get another 2 keys.

so it might be a better idea to get another 2 keys, have the dealership register it all into the system. so total of 3 key id. and u can program your own keys afterwards.

your car could be an early 2004 that was sold in 2003. you can call Mazda to find out.

if you have paperwork of the coils, plugs, and wires and mounts, you can show it to them, they CANNOT force you to buy something just to get warranty work done.

if the warranty is already out then ... you can talk nicely with Mazda directly to see if you guys can work something out. sometimes they will cover parts and you cover labor, or they might cover everything.

Yep, just like FC's tranny bar center rubber, it is NOT designed to take load.

It IS the Coils ,Plugs and Wires that are not normally covered under the 8 Year 100K mile Engine CORE Warranty.

They are seen as consumable Parts..

Thumbs up

Well just got the call back from "GREEN MAZDA" in Springfield, IL. They now have a new enginge being shipped in for replacement which does include parts and labor for FREE!!! The Service Manger "STEVE and the Tech KENNY" have worked wonders!! The only thing is that they will have the car for 2 weeks which really doesn't bother us since we are a little car poor.
