Strange CEL Behavior

Strange CEL Behavior
New strange behavior in the last few weeks. The scenario is as follows:
1) I am at a stop.
2) I perform a hard launch and pull to redline through 3rd or 4th gear.
3) I dump the throttle to coast for a bit.
4) The CEL begins flashing.
5) There is no noticable change in the car (stuttering, misfire, etc.)
6) After ~10 CEL is gone.
I have no other CEL displays. It only comes on after a hard run and backoff of the throttle.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

As I repeat time and time and time again on here...
A FLASHING CEL IS ALWAYS A MISFIRE.
ALWAYS.
100% of the time.
It's coded into the ECU of all RX-8s. And I think all Mazdas since ~1990s. As such, it is also not strange or abnormal or even unheard of.
And for misfires, here is the list of things to work through: https://www.rx8club.com/tech-garage-...t-here-222280/
Future search tip: Google search site:rx8club.com flashing cel and it would produce lots of threads that would tell you that it's a misfire.

Depends on the reason for the misfire, and it might even be happening just before you back off, and the cel comes through by the time you do. It doesn't flash on the first misfire, it needs several to begin flashing.
