Strange clutch pedal feel & sound
Hi guys,
Here's what I am experiencing, I don't think it is the pedal, but I'd like to run it through y'all first:
- Faint squeaking when the car haven't been driven for a while. The squeak starts sounds at near fully depressed and at the initial stage of release.
- After driving continuously for a while (30 min or so), the squeak becomes louder. At near fully depressed and at the initial stage of release, the pedal movement feels rough.
- After the squeak becomes louder, I am pretty sure it can be heard from the outside. Actually, after it becomes louder, I wouldn't even call it a squeak. It sounds deeper and more "substantial" than a squeak.
- Pedal spring was lubricated by Mazda. They told me there's a recall on the bracket and they'd replace it for me for free if it is found to be cracked. They inspected it, and they determined the bracket is okay.
I don't feel any clutch slippage. It feels just as grippy as the day I got it. The car is ~67,000 km on it. I don't think it is the pedal assembly. I took it to a shop and they didn't drive my car enough to reproduce the sound. Whenever I've got the sound, the shop isn't open.... What could it be?

I tried to have Scarboro Mazda diagnose it, but they wouldn't even look at it because their computer system shows another dealership has performed the inspection.
I left my car at Mazdee's a couple of weeks ago for some other repairs, they told me they couldn't replicate the sound.
So to answer your question, no.

Extraordinary Engineering
Sources of squeaking
1) The lower limit switch - there was a TSB for this.
2) The push rod out to the clutch master cylinder - Pull the pedal and lube up the rod... the one that penetrates the firewall...
3) The bracket is about to fail - this was inspected
4) The slave cylinder down on the bell housing.
Warm up the car the get a buddy to operate the clutch while you search...

Are you just getting the sound? Or do you also experience roughness in the movement of the pedal.
For me, when the roughness appears, the squeaking sound is loud enough to be noticed by pedestrians.
