Strange Flutter noise

When under load I can hear a deepened fluttering starting at about 6k rpms. If I just rev the engine (standing or rolling) nothing, only when under load and in gear. I thought it was an exhaust leak at first, and I did notice a leak on the header/cat gasket, replaced it with a new one. Noise is still there. I have an AP midpipe, and I did notice that inner perforated lining in the first resonator was broken but didn't feel loose. Could this be the source of the noise?

A little history, my engine has already destroyed one RP super cat, and I do mean destroyed.... the honey comb was completely separated and rattling around inside.

well i just got back to find out i dont have an exhaust leak...yayyy.... but bad news is we didnt figure out the problem cuz this shop i went to is a body shop and not a repair shop so i went up tthe road to my repair shop with what the body shop guy told me: quote: "it looks like your gonna need an intake cleaning and new gaskets, its lookin to be about that time for replacing those gaskets" so i went to the repair shop and he was like i can look at it tomorrow morning around 9. so hopefully if i get my intake cleaned and new gaskets the noise will stop but ill have a more definite answer of whats wrong tomorrow morning.

So, what are the Check Engine light codes, or do you expect us to guess?

so as i was driving somewhere this evening my CEL came on, i went to my girlfriends house to use her dads code checker and i got the code P0456 which doesnt seem like it has to do with my intake (i checked the meaning and it is a "MINOR EVAPORATIVE EMMISIONS SYSTEM LEAK") but ill get a more confirmed answer on that tomorrow just thought id let the thread know.
oh and it seemed that a common fix for this code was to get a new gas cap... but all the stuff i read was 50/50 in the forums so it didnt really help to much.. forgot to add this before i posted woooops lol

And, what does that mean you should look at for being a cause of your misfire issues?

What parts of the car are responsible for igniting the fuel mixture?
What parts of the car are most commonly replaced in order to resolve a misfire issue?

Come on, put your detective's hat on, and come up with the answer for your massively easy to troubleshoot issue. Thousands of threads on here with the exact same symptoms as yours, and other people have written about the answer to the misfiring issue, and flashing CEL.

lol well the guy at the shop today said that he really doesnt know what it is. he said it might be a valve in my intake but the guy has never worked on an rx8 before so he told me i was best off going to my dealer....this small issue is taking way to long to fix. nobody seems to know what causes this problem its a little ridiculous.

Hey guys and gals... Just got back from my dealer and we found out what was wrong xD My exhaust hangers were the stock ones... they werent strong enough for the borla exhaust so when it reached a certain temperature it would start causing some vibrations which was the fluttering noise and i need a new ground cable but everything else was perfect. My engine was in tip top shape

Hahahah I had that same issue with the exhaust hangar, it ended up being a bolt that would start to bang against the midpipe as the heat expanded the pipe subtly, just grinded down the bolt head a little bit and it went away. It took FOREVER to figure out the source of the noise.

Which ground cable needed to be replaced?
