Tail light lamp fogging (2014 thread!)
#26
Finally... all fixed! It's now been 2 weeks since the last repair attempt and still looking good! As above, this time was adding silicone all around the edge to seal the front and back better plus plugging the drill holes left by a previous owner.

I told you.....this is the way to repair; all other repairs sooner or later fail due to the fact that the manufacturing fault (leaking bonding of the clear and black halves) must be cured...........
Congratulations...........

Excellent,........ you can burn the wood.
Eventual very slight partial fogging (upper part of lamp/both sides) will be normal as with many other car brands/types and are caused by seasonal influences....however will be over within a couple of hours each time.

[QUOTE=Rudolph;4633330]Hi Keegs,
Of course I hope that your problem has been solved, but as previously indicated I have my doubts.............if it turns out to be that I am correct, then I advise you to remember how I solved this problem enabling to get rid of it for ever.
I've read the thread and your solution sounds right. My Very Dumb question is, how do I remove the tail light assembly? I also have the problem with the passenger side tail light fogged and wet after our last rain.

It's all still working 100% which is great.
As for removing the assembly, take off 4 plastic clips holding the centre plastic piece on, once that's removed I think it's 1 or 2 more to pull back the carpet behind the light. A couple of 10mm nuts later and disconnecting 3 wires, the job will be done. Good luck.

The clear and black pieces of the tail light appear to be heat welded together. How do you separate without chipping the plastic? Help!

I FIGURED IT OUT! After washing my car, the water drips inside the trunk, not through the gaskets. I've silicon-ed my tail lighs twice thinking it was them, but then i discovered this slit in the trunk, that doesn't seem to be welded. You can even see the residue where the water flowed and then dripped onto the the white bulb connector!! So spread the word, don't replace your taillight gaskets if you don't
have to and just silicone the slit.
have to and just silicone the slit.
