Hey guys, I'm having this weird noise coming from the engine area when I take up to high RPMs it sounds like a thump as if I just hit a speed bump. Also, when I start the car the engine makes a high pitched noise not significantly above the normal engine sound but still noticeable, I don't know if both sounds are related and therefore are part of the same condition. There's about 85k miles on the car, so there might be a possibility of broken apex seals (though I doubt it) or maybe is just a defective spark plug. It also didn't seem to consume as much gas on the commute to and from work today, though I pretty much drove the same way. Weird.

 

Can you elaborate on the noise a bit more for us without ESP. Like a single bump. A multiple bump. A rhythmic bump.

 

When accelerating or on high RPMs is like thumps, it sounds as if I had a different engine. I only noticed from 6000 to 9000 RPM.

Found ur problem, based solely on your detailed description...

 

It went away after a little bit of high RPM action, so I guess it was carbon buildup, or.... heck, I don't know, but it went away.
