"the pedal used to have this soft feeling, After the brake fluid swap, the pedal feels more "firm" and it seems that its "easier" to go into gear."

Bleeding problem. Re-bleed again.

Also, try going into 2nd first then reverse.

If you replaced the clutch and bracket... because they were not working correctly...... My bet its your driving habits and the tranny/clutch/bracket is going out again.

Did you flush the fluid or just bleed it? Should be flushed once a year.

Is it almost clear or brown?

I have this same problem that NYCGPS has. It would be good to find out if you got it fixed and what the problem was. I am also hearing a high pitch winding sound when I drive (coming from the transmission) and 1st gear has some problems, but almost always goes in. Let us know if you resolved and what the fix/problem was.

Thats what I do when it is being stubborn with reverse.

Fine I can go on with Gear 2 and maybe after 10-15 minutes of driving, I can go into first but still "kinda hard" to get it into Reverse.

Is my shift fork or tranny "finally" going? I had a "2nd gear" shift problem about 2 years ago, complained to dealer at that time(great neck mazda) they said its fine, and after that it seems to be ok.

but now, its really almost impossible to shift it into Reverse 90% of the time when cold. and 50/50 when its warmed up.

No good. Anybody got this "problem" ? -_- It started around 2 weeks ago, I didn't really pay attention to it cuz it was really cold that time, but I parked it in my garage now, its nice and warm, Still wouldn't go into reverse easy. got me worried.

48.3K miles right now.
was this issue ever solved. i'm having the same issue, some of the time it feels as if trying to shift to first gear is getting hung up on something and i need to use extra force to get it in there.

Took down my tranny last night. Turn out a bracket was broken by the reverse gear and the pieces were causing the problems with the gear going in. I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what the name of that part is and where I can get it? Preferably an online (or tel# for a dealer or supplier) as I am in the Virgin Islands and no dealers around (my 8 is the only one around).

NYCGPS, did you resolve your problems?

Thanks.

mine was difficult to go in reverse, but after i got the axial flow ss, never had a problem. i thinkstock you had to push down way to hard.
