Trouble eith REVI INTAKE KIT AND HEADERS
Dear sirs:
Some days ago I made a deal to keep a 2004 RX-8, but before making the bussiness, I took the car to a shop to check spark plugs, compressions, codes and emission test.
Everything was OK, so I made the deal an I keep the car, the car was running very well with the stock parts, but I ordered the REVI INTAKE KIT, REVI AIR RAM DUCT, AND THE EXHAUST HEADER #16133, then I took my car to the shop to install all this things ( thinking to gain more HP )but when I picked up my car, the check engin light came out, and the error was suposed to be the spark plugs. In the shop they changed the spark plugs ( used but in good shape )and the light went off, but a few kilometers of driving, the light came on again and still is.
I do not know if the air intake, or headers have something to do with it, because, as I was tellin you before, I have no problem with the car. Another thin is that I felt a lack of power instead of a increased power. Also the car has a very high fuel comsuption ( I know it consume a lot between 18-20 Mpg. but mine is in the range of making 20 Km. per gallon.
I do not know if the car is too rich, and how can I repair it.
I do not know if the ECU has to be flash.
Or please, help me find the problem, because I invest some kind of money to make it better an know is worst.

SF69: can you have the shop read the code and let us know what it is?
Maybe the front O2 sensor was damaged when the header was installed?
As for the fuel mileage, I average roughly 18 mpg but I drive on the highway a lot. If you are driving mainly on the streets, it could be lower due to spending more time in the lower gears (1st & 2nd) at high rpm's

Thank you Paul, I wil ask for the code number, because the computer they have just display " CYL. 1 MISSFIRE "
I am sorry about my english, but it is my third language, and I am getting use to it.
Thanks again,
Sergio.

..other things...make sure they capped the vacuum hose used for the variable intake duct actuator when they installed the REVi....and reinstall the screen in the REVi box, etc, etc., basically - did they follow the directions exactly with ALL the stuff you bought and brought to them or perhaps they just 'winged it' and figured they knew what to do.....

Hi, I changed the e-shaft pulley for a Mazdatrix lightweigth pulley. Since then I have the C.E.L blinkink and steady on. I did exactly step by step the procedure to erase the NVRAM and KRAM t reset the E.C.U, but I did not have success.
I have checked the following things and have no luck:
Coils OK
Cables OK
e-shaft sensor OK (tested with a voltimeter)
Water leaks OK
Spark plugs OK
O2 sensor OK ( tested at 600 F )
I am sure the problem is in the pulley, but I do not know what else to do. Before putting the pulley the car were fine, and still is. Good idle, no rough sounds, runs smooth. It just has lost a litle power. It also have the Revi. Intake system with the ram air duct, and the RB headers.
Any comments, really appreciate.
Thanks,
Sergio
