trouble removing eccentric shaft bolt

i recently pulled my motor for a rebuild.

problem is.. i CAN not remove the ecc. bolt. we have tried 5 or so high end impact guns. 3 of us held the motor down held flywheel and used a larger then normal breaker bar. We held a torch for about 10 min. on the bolt.

IT WILL NOT COME OUT! help... suggestions..

Flywheel lock and long cheater or impact gun. Holding it with a prybar won't cut it. Torque spec is higher on the 8.

we used a 3 foot matco breaker bar WITH a 6 foot 2'' conduit on it. one guy holding the motor down, one guy holding the flywheel, other guy prying. no luck.. guy holding motor down ways 200 if not more, just kept on rocking..

you obviously haven't been liberal enough with the heat on the bolt. worst case get that sucker glowing red then apply the impact gun quickly before it cools down, works on even the most stubborn front main bolts. yes it will cook the front main seal and the thermal unit, just replace them and the bolt if it looks to be damaged from the heat.

350ft/lb is childs play. What you really need is a good IR 1/2" impact (750 ft/lb min) and a big enough compressor. Tools, tools, tools.

u

Lol, if u only new... Cherry red isn't good enough? Any how I called him today and he did eventually get it out. But no good news, bearings are seized on the shaft, scores on the irons from a bearing going. I'll get more info and pics later. But nothing good so far..

Question, you talking about the front bolt, or the flywheel bolt?

Mazda puts a version of locktite on the front bolt including the high torque spec. we use a 6' aluminum fence pole on the end of a breaker bar and strap the engine down typically to get those front bolts off. longer fulcrum = more torque with less effort.

needed a gun with more nuts then. had a few that were a pain but the heat was always the cure.
