My point is ; if they can't tune with the x and don't realise the blow through setup takes special measures to work - what chance do they have ?

Well, unfortunately, the OP's experience is typical.
WAY too many shops get in WAY over their head WAY too easily.
Tuning for a blow-through system doesn't take any "special measures", you just have to know what you are doing (and what to expect).
I've given up on trying to explain anything beyond the boundaries that I've already set.
All I get are arguments of theory against what I state as a matter of fact and experience. Even the "big guns" around here are mostly just ICMs.
If it is important to someone, they will take the knocks and figure it out themselves. I don't get off on the Mother Theresa thing.

Works quite well sometimes
BTW the only explanation i could find on what ICM meant that came close to being relevant here was Ice Cream Man

I do like a good argument.
But when someone says "how do I do something" and then I tell them, step-by-step from actual experience, it gets tiring to hear "that won't work" or, "that's not how so-and-so" does it.
Or getting confronted with theoretical data, conjured from some non-vetted source that contradicts my actual measurements and then being told I'm lying.
At this point, I've built more systems and/or motors than most people here have owned vehicles. I have thousands of pages of actual data. Thousands of dyno pulls. Thousands of calibrations. I don't have anything to prove and I really have lost any sense of charity or camaraderie for the vast majority yokels around here.
ICM = Internet Certified Mechanic.

now theyre trying to tune it and been so for the last month or two. I switched from the Interceptor-X because they couldnt get it with that, so now I got the Cobb Accessport...still no luck and they cant get ahold of anybody from Cobb or Esmeril soo Im guessing by the end of the month I'll be back stock.
.................
The shop is very reliable and have been in business around 30 years I believe tuning cars and doing custom turbos..etc...

Theyve done lots of top notch work. And my guess is its the turbo install gone wrong somewhere, not the Cobb, as for the Int-X(bought used on here), they couldnt get it to do much, not sure if its messed up or what...as I stated, bought used(The AP is new). And we believe it was draining my battery(gone through 3), not sure exacly whats going on with the Accessport. The shop who installed the turbo kit screwed up a few thangs thats why my car has been at this shop for so long because they've had to fix alot before they started tuning.

thats all well and fine, but if they've been trying to tune for a couple months....
eith there's problems that need to be fixed before more tuning is attempted, and i wouldn't say anyone is competent who didnt figure that out in 2 months.
or they simply aren't competent to do the tuning. perhaps they have loads of expeience with different scenarios, but perhaps not with your particular setup/management/motor. and that makes all the difference in the world.

Somethings wrong somewhere is my only guess. Theyve messed with rotarys as a matter of fact one rx7 they tuned was in a magazine I read, forgot which, hopefully Monday when I call theyll have some good news. If I had the cash I'd tell them yank it out and reinstall it themselves the right way! but I dont so if they cant get it tuned then Ill just have them convert it to stock. Pretty much makes me want to just give the car away lol...

and the magazine thing doesnt impress anyone, we've got someone here who is not a professional, doesnt do this as a career, and had his car(all his own work/tuning) in a magazine.

I've personally witnessed a not to be named shop in my region of the country that the RX-7 community adores work on a FI RX-8. Just a basic, straightforward build and they couldn't figure out how to stage the injectors on the INT-X. This would be covered in the pre-head start, pre K classes of tuning. Their answer to the issue was to "start tearing the car down and see what is wrong". Haha...and the tuner/shop was too vain to just admit they didn't know how to make the INT-X work, nor were they really willing to spend the time to learn. But they were VERY willing to rack up an enormous bill for exploratory trouble shooting. That RX-8 was promptly removed from that shop.
All that written, this RX8club notion that RX-7 shops don't know or can't work on the RX-8 competently is BS. And of course, this BS is pushed by many that do no more than change their own oil. If you can tune a 13B-T, REW, etc... you can tune a Renesis. It is this simple - some old guard RX-7 shops just don't want anything to do with the RX-8, but don't want to turn down the business. For those that need such mechanic/tuning services, it is weeding out who is who in that regard. If the shop I mentioned above cared, they could have done the work...clearly they didn't.

Anyways back on topic, when I talk to them Monday I'll see what exacly is going on. They really only get the time to work on it once or twice a week. Anyone know a shop that does turbos & tuning around Georgia or Florida preferably on Mazda's ? Because next time that's where I'll go! lol

Pettit no longer installs turbo kits on rx8 street cars...due to "reliability issues"...pretty much their exact words....Trying to sell me a SC maybe? lol
