turbo from rx7
#53
IM DANOMITE has a turbo kit for sale right now for 2500.00. Worth a shot. Check the for sale section.
I have nothing funny to contribute. I once asked MM what laptop he would recommend for tuning my RX8. (That did not go well.)

OK, it was fun reading this thread but seriously it can be done.
The twin turbo has an intermediate exhaust manifold that goes in between the motor and the twin turbo assembly. What you would have to do is make a modifed intermediate exhaust manifold that will bolt to the rennys three exhuast ports. You will have to make it so it clears the engine mount. You will also have to make the flange that bolts to the turbos.
The easit way to use the twin turbos would be converting them to non-sequintial mode. This is done all the time on the FD's. It basically eliminates the rats nest. Youll loose the full boost at low RPM and the system acts like a small single turbo. With that configuration it is possible and in that configuration you can have all three exhaust ports going to the turbo at one intrance.
The twin turbo has two parts for exhaust to enter with a wastegate in the intermidiate exhaust housing. There is a wastegate that allows the smaller turbo to spool first and then it opens to allow ehuast to the second turbo.
If you wanted to make it work in twin turbo mode it is possiblle, but not practical. All the solenoids required are already in the RX8 intake track. You have the ones for the v-fad, the upper intake manifold and the ones for the lower intake manifold.
The modified manifold would have the siamese port feeding the smaller of the twin turbos and the outside ports feeding the larger turbo.
The RX8 already has rpm and load specific times at which it actuates these solenoids. You just have to re-route them to the twin turbo assembly. Im not saying its easy, but it can be done.
The small turbo will always be used, you will need a signal to open the wastgate to prime the second turbo, then use another signal to open a valve to allow the second turbo to join in the fun.
The RX8 has these signal applied to the intake manifold to open valves, you just re-route those to operate the twinturbo assembly in the simplified way.
After I make the s/c kit for the RX8, I had already planned on the hybrid twin turbo set-up.
It is not as good as Mazdamaniacs set-up. But I'm doing it for fun, to show it can be done.
It is very impractical using the twin turbo set-up, but I do alot of touge racing and I would like to see how it works if its done. I'm doing it for fun and for experience.

Take a look at this link to see what your up against to make twins work in sequintial and non sequintial operation.

If your going non-sequintial, don't even waste your time, go with mazdamaniac - he knows his **** for tunning single turbos.
Also call trust japan. They may be able to sell you the pieces individualy so that your not stuck with 2 turbos by buying a new greddy kit then an upgrade.
You'll only need the Cobb AP from Mazdamaniac.
Hope this helped. Ben
