Uneven Rear Brake Pad Wear

I believe the rear rotor is the same on both Sport and non-Sport USDM models

back when I ran OE-type rotors most of us were racing on the Centric rotors from Rockauto.com without issue and they were pretty cheap

I don't think so. Cuz when i switched then, i thought i had the regular suspension. Until i clarified with dealer and auto zone gave me some bigger rotors and my pads are wearing down normal now. Or are we talking about pads? Lol

the same rear brake pad shape with more thickness is available for other vehicles, but they shouldn't really fit on the RX8. Found this out the hard way when I was sent a set by mistake and couldn't figure out why the piston wouldn't go in any further to let them fit over the rotor width.

Oh so pads is the discussion. I never got how the pads can be all one size yet fit on the regular suspension brake rotors and the pads be too big.

thanx, when I get the new rears, i'll compare them, but I definitely think that could possibley the case too.

No prob bro, I'm glad to be of some help. And you'll see the difference quick, ours a good 10-15mm difference. I was surprised when i picked them up

I found the pics of how different the two rotors are. The bottom one is the correct rotor for my car. The top one is the wrong one. Do your rotors look like the top one?

The front brakes are a different size, not the rear

If your rear rotors were wrong it's because they were for a different car

The top one looks like it has been machined. Mazda machined my original rotors and they looked like that after the weather got to them.

Maybe you should just cool it for a while ... and while you're on this well deserved non-posting sabbatical then maybe you can find time to read the Brake FAQ link posted in my last reply

Hello

Today I had my car's brake pads and disks replaced. All are EBC brand. Having driven for about 100km, it looks like that:



I noticed the wear didn't occupy the whole braking surface of the disk. It looks, about 20% area to the inner side didn't wear. Is that normal?
