Vibration at Speed in Snowy Area
I looked for this on the threads because it was so familiar to me, but I can't quite find it. Lately we've been buried in snow and I've had to dig my car out twice from snowbanks in my parking lot. Now when I take it up to 65+ it sets in a consistent vibration, even on smooth roads. This happened to me once on my Wrangler, but that was when I went off-roading and caked mud underneath...so could snow packed in somewhere be responsible? What else may cause this? I've sustained no accidents or wear/tear, with the only abnormality being the foot of snow caked around here in MI. help!

Being from a state that is common to get 20 feet or more snow a year (we commonly see 4-5 feet out of one storm), I know what you are describing and how it feels. I will try to help, and I will just say thing from my experience. Check your wheels and see if snow is packed in them, some types of snow are heavy and can upset the tire balance, check the fender wells for packed snow as this that can do some wierd things, Check tire pressure, even if the TPMS doesn't see a low tire, sometimes when a tire is 2 psi lower than another you can get vibrations (from personal experience). Check under the car and see if you have ice any were on the drive shaft, you never know. Just giving some suggestions, you probly already checked some of these. Well good luck.

you said there was no damage..but what you're describing sounds exactly like what mine did when i discovered my two right side tires were slightly bent (i didn't know about it ...ex gf did it and claimed she didn't)...anyways..it's pretty easy to check..take em off and get em balanced..

well...i only have about 3500 miles on mine and i feel a slight vibration here and there. took off the the wheels at work and checked to see if they were balanced. even road forced them to see any high or low spots. nothing at all. even took the time to measure rim run out, again...nothing. maybe b/c the car is so light and the suspension is already stiff that i may be feeling every little nook and cranny in the road?? i'll just keep telling myself that until i get some better wheels, then we will see exactly what it is. then again...dunlops are piece of **** tires.

I'll agree with Chevy, its just some snow that's packed up on your wheel, when snow falls, it gathers up on the inside bottom portion of your wheel, and as time goes by, it hardens and sticks to it. If little weights on your wheel can balance a wheel, then a little bit of snow like that can throw the balance off.
rx8pilot .... ex gf, hahaha, I guess that the "ex" part came after she bent your wheels.

I don't have any RX8 specific experience, but this has happened to me on a 96 corolla as well as a 01 echo. Both on the same snow storm. Took them to a car wash and the vibration went right away. Both vibrated right on que at 65 MPH
