(video) Clutch pedal squeak
This happens when I depress my clutch pedal:
http://youtu.be/lo_ZQxVnHGU
Sometimes it will go away for weeks. After it rains (car is covered in parking deck) this squeak usually reappears. Then randomly it will go away. However, sometimes it will randomly come back. It has been on and off for years now and I'm so sick of it. Please advise...
Embarrassed,

I had this problem... When I first got my car I never noticed a squeaky pedal but after several months I began to notice it. It got really bad to the point that it squeaked every time I would push it, but sometimes it would go away. Sounded exactly like yours, so I went to Mazda and had my pedal replaced under warranty since I figured it must mean my pedal bracket is about to snap off. Even with the new pedal my clutch always squeaks when I press it during a cold start. But it goes away after the engine has warmed up. I really don't know what it is, but I feel your pain! I went through it as well. You should take it to Mazda and have them replace it under warranty if your still under 100k miles. With the squeaky sound alone they will replace it.

Just add some WD-40 or Liquid Wrench NOT to the springs, but to the connection between the pedal and the pushrod locknut, it's that little tube that goes past the firewall. Just spray a little aiming from the firewall towards the pedal into that spot and it should fix it.

If he's tried lubricating it like he said he has, it might not make a difference lubing that tube. I know what you're talking about, I shot silicon oil all over my assembly and in and on that tube, and eventually I tried lithium grease. The silicon oil helped at first but eventually it went back to squeaking. The lithium grease didn't do much better, but you should try it either way. Could make a difference.

Weird, mine was making exactly that squeak and it's how it got fixed...
Arrow-pointed to avoid confusion, it's not the tube that has to get lubricated, it's the connection between the tube and the pedal.
(taken from RX7 but it's almost the same)

Very interesting-that same piece causes clicking noises for me. However, the squeaking sound seems to come from outside the cabin. I will try to lube that part-any particular lubricant you recommend?

i have a new pedal, and aftr a while i had a sharp speak when id first press the pedeal very slightly, i greased that area , but noticed the problem was one of the bolts bolting the clutch pedal down had come loose! causing it to flex/slide slightly ( the top single bolt). that noise is gone,
but i have the same out of cabin noise as in the video still.
could be clutch pivot fork or something?

Mine's been doing the same thing for a long time. It started intermittently but is now to the point where it happens nearly every time. Once in awhile it'll go away for a bit.
I checked it out last time I had my car jacked up and the noise seems to come from the top of the transmission where the clutch release cylinder is located. It's all covered by a rubber boot so I couldn't get a good look nor lube it up easily. I didn't have time to look in to it any more than that but I'm sure there's where the noise is coming from; not inside the cabin on any of the linkages there.
This link (CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) describes the steps required to remove the clutch release cylinder (from the service manual). My guess is that the end of the rod of the cylinder needs to be greased up. The link shows a grease icon on that ball end. I don't know if it would be possible to grease it without having to disconnect the slave cylinder and drain/bleed the fluid; that's just a pain.
If someone has some time to look in to this and report back that'd be great!

There are three pivot points for the pedal recoil spring, all of which have plastic bushings that wear out. In some cases, the bushing will wear out and the spring will start to wear through the clutch bracket, itself. Try lubricating the three pivot points.
It should also be noted that once the bushings start to squeak you may also be experiencing a parallel (but not causal) problem of pending clutch pedal breakage simply due to having more than 47K miles on the car/pedal assembly.

Mine has been making an annoying squeak and click lately and I finally figured out it was the same part as this.
On this diagram it is part 10, fork.
CLUTCH PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
It really has a lot of play (can rotate it quite a bit clockwise and counter clockwise) Is that normal? When I press the clutch in, I can see it rotate slightly, then when I let up on the clutch it rotates back and hits the main clutch pedal piece that the pad is part of, making a loud click sound.
I also have a squeaking sound which I still cannot tell where it is coming from.

What do I need to do if one of pivot point plastic bushings bust and my clutch spring is metal on metal on one side? I heard a loud pop and now that I put two-n-two together I think what I heard was that bushing busting...I checked the clutch all over and all the "faulty" points are good EXCEPT for the plastic bushing on the right side of the bracket. The pedal is stuck to the floor and I can only pull it back with my foot to its normal position?
