warranty problems with riverside mazda
went in today to mazda becuz of a consistent misfire ive been gettin at high rpms......apparently i had multiple codes for the CEL...........one being catalytic efficiency code......which i dont care i dont have the cat on there.....lol another bein there was a leak coming from the intake manifold.......which anyone that has put on an aftermarket intake knows the cap thats supposed to be on well mine apparently fell off ........also even the tech admitted that the ignition coils were bad, however there tryin to tell me that becuz of the recall prior i had all that stuff on, had to go back to stock for them to put that stuff on.........now there not going to waranty the ignition coils........n were tryin to sell me new ignition coils, as well as a new cat........they said if i come back for service, that if that stuff is on there, there going to completely void my warrantee...........they cant do that.........anyone else have a similar problem with any mazda dealership.........i didnt know they could void the warranty, for a customer complaint that had nothing to do with aftermarket parts put on the car.........???? can i get some advice please ......... thanx

Well since you dont have your CAT on your technicaly driving around illegaly so them not working on the car to me is somewhat justifiable since they have to write off that the car is fixed and fine to run. They can't do that really since technicaly you need your CAT to drive legaly. Most here and most people I've known to have their CAT taken off just put it back on for service to avoid this.
Offer to have your CAT put back on and then have your coils replaced. That is what I believe I read in your post what they are asking you to do. Unless having no CAT and your Intake directly caused the coils to go bad.
Just tossing out sum things man.

note
1 no cat. you lose.
2 if you have a cel for the intake manifold you have a big expensive problem.. this has nothing to to with your cai.
3 they cannot deny you service to the coils, unless they prove the no cat or cai caused the problem.
you are going to lose the battle... put it back to stock and take it in. or find a more prefomance oriented dealer...
but no cat is always a very very bad idea..
btw, if you had where you where from more would be able to help.

well see apparently they had documented that i wasnt stock when i went in for the emissions recall......i put everything back to stock for them since they couldnt do it with aftermarket parts on there.........n then after recall put everything back on...... now the code said it was running lean reason why was the vacuum port under the intake mainfold, the cap had come off..........took care of that now......but see i face a moral dilemma, the stock exhaust will bolt up to the cat, however with the racing beat exhaust n midpipe i had a major exhaust leak from the back of midpipe to front of catback exhaust.......so they hacked the flange....put in one solid pipe........so that means midpipe n exhaust will have to be both put back on.......the dealership already had said there not gonna pay for ignition coils, in addition to tryin to sell me a brand new cat which is sittin in my backyard.....so they wanna charge me 450 including parts n labor........when on mazdatrix i found same oem ignition coils for 57 each.......im thinkin i would rather spend 230 n do it myself....n to answer ur question swoope im in southern california......i think im gonna go check out norco mazda there more in tune with performance, hell from what i heard through the grapevine they sell n install racing beat parts lol..........im gonna go check them out.........

to me..
put your location in you data... it will be there forever. see look in the upper right of my post.
the new coils are ~25 bucks now..
put the stock cat back on.. it should fit with the rb exhaust... and go from there...
and yes if the nipple from the cai was missing that could do it..
do you have a list of the codes. it would be helpful.

Unless you change some Emission equipment. Theres no reason for them not to do the recall on the car, its EMISSION recall. they have to do it.
put the Cat back on, thats all.
and yes the new coils are 25 bux each. fight the warranty thing till death.

P0171 System too Lean: Red Cap came off vacuum port on intake manifold.
P0420 Cat Efficiency below threshold: Or I should say lack of CAT.
U2616 Wheel Unit Not Responding: When the Inside Sidewall of my Rear Left Tire Shredded From High Speed and bad alignment.

Is it ABS? Is it DSC? Is it both? Heck, is it TPMS? I ask about TPMS because I do occasionally get the blinking TPMS light and have been unable to determine which sensor has the problem.
As always, any insight is greatly appreciated,
