Weird Whirr after accident
Well, I got in an accident last night where a guy rear ended me. It was declared his fault and everything, so he has to pay for all of my repairs. Most of the damage is cosmetic damage to the rear end. But while driving it to the body shop to get looked at, the engine has developed a weird whirr noise. Whenever the car is revved, it makes this weird whirr/whine sound that progressively gets worse as the RPM's get higher. It also does this sound while the car is sitting in park and you rev it any.
Any clues as to what might be making this noise? I would just like to get an idea so I know what I might be dealing with, so it might help ease the uneasyness I have about it. lol

Is the sound coming from the back end where you got hit? or from the engine area?
If at the back end, it might have shaken loose or broke a exhaust mount and its rattling?

So you have not had the car for to long I take it by your Join date? And you have never heard the sound before the accident. Its an Automatic since you typed is was in park and you revved it. Were you in Drive when the accident happened or possibly in park? (In a parking lot, etc..) You should definitely have the Tranny checked out. I don't think you could harm the engine being rear ended but who knows?
Was it violent, maybe it shook something loose in the engine bay?

There's a big stick that pokes out of the rotary-whiz zoom gizmo up front and runs all the way back to some kind of geary thing in between the back rollers with tires on them, and if you push that stick into the gizmo that shifts gears for you it can become angry. I'd wager it's either the gearshift box thingy or the squishy part in between that and the rotarywhiz zoom gizmo. Yup.

Please give details of this vehicle. Did it have oil catch can or the TSB done for the vac tube reroute done? Maybe oil is in the intake. Check oil & coolant level. Inspect belts & hoses. Pull codes.
