Wheel speed sensor connected = ABS light. Disconnect = DSC blinks
So I have an 04 manual thats had the ABS light (only) on since I bought it. I noticed the front, driver's side wheel speed sensor wire had the plug end cut off and was hard wired with buttsplice connectors. To clarify, You have a cable that plugs into the sensor itself (that's integral to the front wheel bearing hub)and a cable that goes into the ABS module. Those two cables plug into eachother in the back of the wheel well. Those two cables had the plug ends that join them cut off and spliced together. With it like it is , I have the ABS light on. I found that if I disconnect the cable from the actual sensor itself the ABS light goes out , but the DSC light now blinks non stop. Does this mean anything to anyone ? Has anyone experienced this ? Thank you all for your help .
**** EDIT....The DSC button does absolutely nothing ******************

I got a C1306....Steering angle sensor zero position not found. I've done the reset several times (Steering wheel right till stop, left till stop, back to center) , but no joy. I haven't heard of these sensors actually failing before. I know its a beech to get to, so is there anyway to test it without removing the steering wheel ? Or is there maybe another likely cause I should look for first ?

I downloaded the software (forescan). I checked all faults including faults from ABS module. I received C1306. I checked each wheel speed sensor individually (because using the demo veraion you can only monitor one at a time) and they all read the same. SO....its apparently NOT a bad wheel speed sensor or a cable. I received no codes for wheel speed sensors and they all read the same, correct mph. Thank you for your input.
Has anyone experienced a failure of the steering wheel angle sensor ?

The sensor itself maybe not, but the wiring to it could be damaged. The DSC blinking with the wheel sensor disconnected is obvious in retrospect : it's either trying to do its job, thinking one wheel isn't turning or, more likely freaking out because one sensor is disconnected. Not relates to the long term problem of that steering angle sensor.
The sensor is in the steering column behind the clockspring. The wiring at least shouldn't be that bad to get to?
