Whine in Reverse

Hey guys, I changed out my manual tranny fluid and rear differential fluid about a week ago. Right after doing so, I noticed my car makes a really loud whining noise in reverse. It was definitely not this loud before. It makes it even if the car is in neutral so I am thinking maybe something with the differential. I used that cheap supercraft synthetic stuff from walmart. I think it was either 70w 90 or 80w 90, can't remember for sure. I looked it up at work and I didn't see that the rear differential called for any kind of limited slip additive or friction modifier. I told my boss about it and he gave me some TX-7 differential additive (friction modifier). Could it be the fluid? Anybody have any experience with TX-7?

I wouldn't put anything in to try to "correct" a fluid problem. I'd swap it back out for the well-accepted RedLine brand fluids, MT-90 and 75W90 GL4, iirc, but search. But first, when you filled the cases, was the car completely level? If not, it may have been underfilled. The very first thing I would do, before driving it further, is double-check the fluid levels.

When you say it's making the noise in Neutral, do you mean while it's parked, or in motion?

In motion. Somebody at work heard it and told me it was the rear brakes. I didnt think I underfilled it since I do several every day. The timing of the noise was just real bad. lol
