Wow What a story to tell

Hey guys check out this story.
This is the story of my RX8....so far
I am a marine stationed in Miramar Ca. I ordered a silver RX8 from Yuma back in Oct 2003 but canceled it the next day because I found out that I was headed to Iraq in February the next day. When I got back I got in an accident in my MR2 in November of 2004 so I searched for an RX8 that I always wanted. I flew to Arkansas to pick a Sunlight Silver with 2818 miles on it for 22K not bad. I drove it cross country to Charleston SC Atl GA and then back to Cali. the night of the super bowl a guy in a big lifted Dodge truck busts my tail light making a turn, nothing to the car, just the tailight. crazy. well after that I take it in the dealer for an oil change and they notice a coolant leak. NOT GOOD. well its under waranty so I got a new engine at 8K miles and brand new brakes because that was a recall. sweet thanx from info from you guys. I have to bring it mack because they scratched up my interior and left a grease stain on the seat. so I haven't had the car for about a month and had it for about only two. but I love it. the fact that on the way back on I8 it was raining and foggy I couldn't see more than 5 feet in front of me and I was driving by the road reflectors, and the car had full control, turned on a dime. plus another time when I was directly in the middle of a five car accident and was able to menouver my way out of it without a scratch. I would have been done for in any other car...except for those ugly *** WRXs or lancers, but who wants those POSes. So now I'm ready to start a new life with my new 8 with the new engine brakes and clutch. Wish me luck. (It is Sunlight Silver) hehehe :p

Good luck from another military guy AND a cursed silver owner. Of course I wouldn't trade Silver for the world. Love to live life dangerously...

First off thank you for your service.
Someone hit my silver 8 not too long ago. It wasn't too bad though, they just had to replace the rear plastic bumper. Enjoy your car and thanks again for your service.

I miss my MR2 What year did you have? I had a white 85 with sun roof. Extremely reliable with very good gas milage and awsome handling. I sold it to get an eclipse GT in 2000. The eclipse is a whale compared to the 2, 8 reminds me a little of the 2 though.

I had a 2001 black MR2 spyder. I still miss it sometimes but I wouldn't get rid of the 8 for anything.

Let me get this straight... You had to replace the engine of your brand new less than 10k miles car and you're calling WRXs and Evos pieces of ****?

I just want to say that I think you're smart

Hey Ike-it is his opinion on what he thinks about those vehicles. There is no need to flame him for that. As a matter of fact, I think those cars have good performance but they look like POSs from the inside and out. You must be one of those that can't have the guts to say stuff like that in person to someone so you hide behind your monitor and troll forums to release that chip on your shoulder.

Tpham: Miramar, eh? Top Gun?? Would be interested to hear your stories coming out of there!

Congrats on your "new" 8. Like you did, I'm considering driving mine cross country--do give us your numbers (i.e., $ spent on fuel; miles put on your 8, etc.). For some reason, I'm reluctant to say that driving our cars from coast to coast is cost effective, considering the gas mileage and the cost of gas these days.

I was sticking to the topic just fine, and pointing something out that I found humourous. The topic was his "story" and I made a comment on it. If you can't see the irony in what I pointed out it's out of my control.

I have plenty to say to you but will refrain per abbid's wishes. I suggest you do the same.

Sup guys that was just my opinion anyways for miles and trip, yeah it's not really worth it. It was for me because I flew out there to Memphis on a last minute's notice. I wasn't about to fly there buy it and fly back then call someone to ship the car. from Cali to Arkansas it's only like 1500 miles or 2000 I forgot. but I took it to Atl to see my cousins then Charleston SC to see my Sister, then back to ATL and through Dallas to see an old girl and through Yuma for another girl. The whole trip put on about 4K miles. superb handling. and comportable. I didn't even get a back ache. well for the numbers full to 3/4 I usually get 75 miles 3/4 to 1/2 was 100 and 11/2 to 1/4 is 125 so that puts me just about 300 +/- of course. the shitty thing is I only get like 25-30 from 1/4 to the point the gas light comes on and I didn't feel like taking the risk. I averaged 20 miles to the gallon. maybe 19 but that's at 80 90 maybe sometimes a little more. I lowered down to 70 at one point just to see and my mileage went up to about 24, but to me that's no big deal. You figure a couple of miles per gallon like it's expensive. Everyone would love 24 miles instead of 20 but think of a full tank you get about 40 more miles that's two more gallons which is what 4 dollars. well a whole trip like that matters but normal usage it shouldn't. BTW if your wondering why I did all that. I just had just gotten back from Iraq and wanted to see them anyways, plus the fact that I'm going back out in August for my third time so for milage it will be good. Anyhoo I got a brand new engine so it's actually pretty good. I would have liked them to reset my odo though. That would have been great.

tpham has a right to say what he wants about whatever car without getting personally attacked. Rowdy is correct in his observation.
