16 inch Mazda 6 wheels

The RX-8 did have available 16 inch factory wheels on some base models. So would a set of 2004 Mazda 6 wheels fit a 2005 RX8 for winter tires use? they have the same bolt pattern and the same bore diameter also.

I would think so because people with 3s and 6s can use the RX8 18in ones.

They will not fit over the larger brakes found on the Sport, Touring and GT models. Why would you want them anyways?

Like I said before - winter rims. Traction is more important than being able to say I have 17's or 18's on mine. life is more important than looks.
Brake clearance was my main concern.

Size is not just about looks either, but also tire size. But yeah if you have the upgraded brakes they won't work. Good luck though, CX-7 rims?

Winter tires are best if they are narrow. 205-225 width. Wide tires have a tendency to float on the snow. Narrow smaller diameter tires cost considerably less also. I put 17 inch snows on my Lincoln LS for $90 each compared to $150 plus for my RX8 with 18's.

It's all about looks! I can deal with my 0% traction in this rain, as long as i look good while spinning out

unless you have the base model automatic that CAME WITH 16s, 16" rims will not clear your front brakes.

no manual rx8 can use 16" rims. 17s BARELY clear the front brakes. barely. you can put 16s on the rear though.

Me = completely aware of that.

Calm down, if he really wants 16's i was assuming he could just get the 16" RX8 OEMs, if he has an AT.

The car is an 05' 6 speed. No sports car should have an automatic transmission.

I was unsure about the size of the front brake differences between auto and stick.

17's for winter are fine.

By the way it's my wife's car. She needs to be safe in the WINTER. For summer the 18's are great.

I'd rather have **** yellow, hell even puke green, then CHROME.

Thank God, your 8 only goes out one day a week. Shouldn't make people have to look at it more than that.

They're gold, btw.

:p
