I have an opportunity to pick up a set of Enkei CDR9 rims. 17X7 with 215/55/17 Dunlop Graspic DS-2 tires. The back of the hub part of the rim is stamped "40" which I'm assuming is a 40mm offset. The rims came off a G35 which seem to have a 5X114.3 bolt pattern. I searched and found that the tire size is close enough to stock size for winter use but I'm not sure about the offset. I know our stock rims are at 50mm, but will the 40 work with the 17" rim? I can get these for a good deal, ($400 CAD about $350USD), rims and tires balanced and ready to install. Tires were used one season, and two of them are more worn that the other two. Still lots of tread left on all four and I figure I'll put the ones that are more worn on the front. Any suggestions about the offset? Thanks!

 

Tire size is fine. the 40 is the offset and should be fine, but do a search.

Better yet, call the tirerack and ask them if a 40 offset will fit the RX8. Or you could check the website, tell it you want wheels for the rx8, and look for that wheel (if they still sell it).

My guess is that you will have no probs. Otherwise those wheels will fit. Welll, there is a small chance they wont clear the front calipers, but unlikely. Call/check with tirerack.

How many miles on those tires ? You'll only get about as many good winter miles on them as our summers - if you are lucky. That tire's a gumball. Any uneven wear? Buying used tires is not for the feint of heart. Make sure you know as much as you can about the tire.
