245/45 R18 w/ stock rims O.K. on the front???

Nope. Have this set up on mine all round for a year and a half now with no problems. It was by mistake though, and I wouldn't do it again because it does raise the car slightly, which is especially evident at the front. I'd recommend going with 245/40s instead.

I have 245/40 R18's and there's no problems at all on stock rims. It's very close to stock size, so there's negligible speedo error (<2mph low at indicated 72 mph based on a couple GPS's, and some of that is baseline error). Pic shows mine on the right, stock on the left, just for a visual.

it raise the car by 2.5cm!
if you really want to replace stock's size with wider tire, make it 245/40R18, it will lower the car by 0.4cm(4mm) which is really nothing, it keeps your 8 in stock height. A lot of us done it and from my personal experience they feel great.

They will fit, just remember the wider you go the less steering response you will have. You will have more grip but the car won't be as responsive to your steering inputs. It all depends on what kind of driving you want to be doing.
Why do you want to go wider anyway?

Perhaps you need to re-think that idea 987.... or drive a car with wider tires to understand.... or did you mean to say taller?

I didn't notice any loss in steering response going from the OEM 040's to slightly wider 050 Pole Positions. The tires really feel the same to me; the only real difference is a marked reduction in road roar (and hooray for that). I was shooting for a more grip with the extra width, but I never pushed the car with the OEM's like I did with the new tires at the Dragon, so I couldn't tell if it was better. Gas mileage has been the same as well, despite a little more rolling resistance with wider tires.

well, to be honest with you all. When I recently purchased the 8 the dealer had brand new tires on the back, which are 245/45 R18. The front tires are pretty much shot. So, I then purchased the exact same tires that are on the back so that I can rotate from front to back. I just want to make sure that these tires will not rub or cause any problems before I have them mounted. Next Wed. I am having them mounted and balanced along with a 4 wheel alignment. Within the next couple weeks I plan to take the 8 to the dealership to have them look it over good and let me know if it needs any ecu updates or recalls. Any info or advice is welcomed.
Thanks,
Mike
