Aftermarket upper mounts??
Hey Guys,
Been a while since I posted. Still have my 8 and am looking at finally installing the sus upgrade.
I have the Tokico Dspec kit which includes the Tokico lowering springs and adjustable absorbers front and rear. I would prefer to install these as a completed modules without having to take apart my OE absorbers. This means I need upper supports, etc. for all four corners.
Can anyone make a recommendation for an aftermarket upper support front and rear. Ideally they would be pillow ball and the fronts maybe camber adjustable.
If there is nothing available, I may just purchase OE stuff, but really dont want to do that. It is a bad idea to install higher rate absorbers with relatively soft rubber uppers.
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks, Mark

Speedsource sells the OE part modified with spherical bearings (pillowballs), but they are intended for real racing shocks that use 1/2" diameter attachment studs so you may need to use an adaptor sleeve, but to be frank these are a waste on Tokico D-Spec shocks. Only real racing monotube shocks (Moton, Koni 2812, etc.) have the low speed valving precision to take advantage of metal bearing pickup points. The low speed valving on those Dspecs is sloppier than a 65 yr old crack ***** ... not to mention that the shock tops have nothing to do with camber adjustment on an RX-8

As noted by TeamRX8, you'd be wasting your money to do anything other than OEM given your application. Might be able to find some OEM take-off stuff from someone with a Tein Flex kit or more advanced suspension (such as TeamRX8, for example ), but otherwise it shouldn't be too awfully much at the dealer. And the OEM stuff works just fine with the Tokicos; my car is equipped as such .
If I may ask as to why you want complete units? Do you want to be able to swap back to stock very easily? As far as breaking down coilovers and putting them back together, the RX-8 is one of the easier cars to work with. Still, I can understand the appeal, having done the job a number of times.
