on a stock 8 it would look

depending on exterior mods it could look decent. The rivets are a bit overkill imho - too much detail in one specific area.

You can have the fastener bolts hidden on the inside and not shown to tone it down if you want.

sometimes im amazed by the popularity of that car. ive known mike for a while. he went to high school up the road from me and was know as "that guy with a bunch of old bmw's. i see rusty in person from time to time whenever im in murfreesboro ( like 20 mins from my house) he recently won rat rod of the year. that pretty amazing if you ask me.
