Any experience with Konig wheels?

Any experience with Konig wheels?
I'm looking into getting a new set of rims in the spring, and I found a good deal at Discount Tire for the 19" Konig trouble wheels. However, after asking someone at Discount Tire in person, they say the wheels are very cheap and the finish is only painted on, and it'll chip. My last set of wheels on my 300ZX were also painted (5Zigen Typhoons) but I found after 6 months of driving that the only chips on the wheel were my own fault from an impact gun around the lug holes.
Has anyone previously had Konig wheels on their cars? At less than 200 a rim for 19" I may get these anyway, regardless of how 'cheap' they are. I really think the silver/gunmetal finish on those rims will look good on a Ti RX-8.

Don't buy Konig wheel, they're ****. Painted wheels are very hard to care for; you have to be careful when cleaning them and you can't use any solutions, otherwise the "painted" finish will start to fade and/or peel.
I would recommend you NOT to buy any wheels Discount Tires has to offer. If you're going to invest in Rims, do it right. There are NO cheap-but-good-wheels; you get what you paid for. A decent set of rims would cost your around $1500. Shop around, there are plenty of places you could buy rims at a good deal, and there are plenty of good brands you could buy as well.
Try www.wheelstudio.com Good Rim/Tire packages
Axis makes decent wheel; definitely better than Konig and they're NOT painted.

As for Konig - again, total BS. I have two sets now - 15" Konig Heliums on a Miata, and they are very tough AND lightweight, and the finish holds up very well. I also have a set of 17" Holes (graphite with polished rim) for winter wheels on my RX-8, and after 1 full winter didn't show a single mark (no chips, fade, peel, etc) - they are still in perfect condition. The Helium has quickly become very popular for the combination of strength and light weight, and in the Miata community where they drive hard (track, autocross, street, etc) I've NEVER heard of a Helium getting bent (or having finish problems, either)
Zaurin, buy Konig with confidence.

I also will throw my weight behind Konig - I had a set of 15" Konig Helium's on my last car, and loved them. Lightweight, look great, never a problem with the finish (had 1 rock chip, or something?

i had a set of enkeis on my last car. theyre about the same price as konigs. very decent wheels for the price. people just bash them because they aren't forged ultra JDM.
and discount tire direct (their direct to consumer division) has some great customer service.

I had a set of 17'' Koenig Toxxins in white finish. Within a matter of 6 months, the paint began chipping and peeling. (I baby my cars and I baby my wheels,m there was no excuse.) Took the car back to Discount Tire to have them look at it and/or replace them. After contacting Koenig, discount tire was told that they would not replace the wheels because it was my fault they where chipping, supposedly from popping the center cap off to pull the rims on and off. Wich was total BS. Next they wanted me to take all four wheels off of my car, and send it back to them at my expense to be inspected. I said to hell with it and used my shipping money towards a new set of rims.
In the end, like stated above, you get what you pay for. And you are right, if you want some immediate shoes on your car, then by all means get them. Just dont expect them to last very long. Of course you can always have them powder coated when they begin to peel, or repainted. Just my 2 cents.

i slammed one of my enkeis sideways into a curb at ~30mph. visually they were a mess, but i never replaced it and the car's probably got 80k miles on it by now with that same wheel.
The finish wasn't as smooth as I'd like, but it held up just fine. Worst case scenario, you have the wheels powdercoated in a color of your choice. 99% of alloy wheels out there are painted or chrome, which means they can chip.

Seems there is a discussion about Discount Tire going on as we speak.

Sorry, but your answer is total BS - MOST alloy wheels are painted, including any non-chrome (or non-polished) factory wheels.

Gordon, I like to see a picture of your rims that you claim its holding up so well. Like Catalyst said, its matter of opinion and you do get what you paid for. You have no right to bash other people's comments like that, freakin Canadians :D

I have Rota Sub Zeroes on my Miata (I understand Rota and Konig are the same) and have been very pleased with them. Light weight, good looking and didn't cost much ($125 each for 16x7 rims). I did end up bending one rim, though, but it was when I slammed into a pot hole so hard that I actually blew out a shock! I don't fault the rims for that...if a shock absorber can't deal with it, I wouldn't think a rim with a low profile tire would, either. Anyway, I'd buy Rota wheels again.
