Anybody know about Toyo Proxy's??
My dealer is offereing these at about 190 per. Is this a good price?
My current tires have good tread left and I'm either looking at trading up S4
or selling. I haven't made up my mind yet.
These will the first replacements since new 9/03 just over 21000 miles.
Any advice is appreciated.
Best,
Bill

Proxes is not a specific tire, it is a line of tires that Toyo makes, within which are all-seasons, summers, racing, etc.
I have the T1R summers (kinda like a T1S successor). They have good reviews and are reasonably priced. I've finally shed the 1500+ km 'break-in' period, and now find them fantastic.

I know a few people who have Toyo T1R's (proxy's) and they all LOVE them.
Since you're in Riverside, give Super Autobacs a call. I know they keep them in stock.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably do that.
on a side note: I like the look of the time attack CE28N.
I haven't seen anybody on the forum with them or either the regular finish.
If I'm going to spend a grand might as well make it 3gs.

First of all, what Proxes tire are you talking about? Just saying Proxes is as useful as just saying Potenza; you could be talking about the RE92s (absolute crap) or RE-01R (awesome tire). Second, edgeracing.com carries the T1-R for a good price and if you must get a Toyo I'd recommend the T1-R.
Finally, the logic of if I'm going to spend a grand I might as well spend three is horrible. However, I love the CE28Ns; I just couldn't justify the expense and the thought of how I would feel if one of them were ever damaged.

Thanks for the response.
Don't know. My service man just told me he had these tires and I went to the most knowledgable place in the world when it comes to the RX8 to find the answers. After searching came up with 3 threads, I made sure that it would have 4.

I don't think anybody thought logically when they puchased the RX8. If they did then Spock has something on me. It's pure unadultarated passion for a high rev'n hard top with four doors. (It also looks nice in my opinion)
My decision to purchase the wheels is basically just that, passion and the desire for my 8 to look hotter. After 4 years and driving with the stocks "logically" it would be stupid to buy any cosmetic upgrades, but hey "Stupid is as Stupid does."

That might be good. I've looked them up with the help of all you guys.
the t1r's look good. I've got to look at the best price and then go for it.
