BBK and Wheel Offsets
I've been in the market for new rims for quite some time (searching for gunmetal volks sf challenges or gt-7's). I just thought of something. I will be getting a big brake kit down the road (not anytime soon) but while thinking in advance, what is the lowest possible offset that I would want to put on my car so that I could still fit a bbk. I was thinking of getting a setup like +46 in the front and +40 in the back, or +34 and +36 in the back. Please let me know if these setups would still allow me to fit a bbk.
Thanks,
Chromium

Do a search and you will find out you need a 45mm off set maybe 42 or 40.
You need special wheels for BBK.
Off set is not the only thing to worry about.
Besides a BBK is BS they don't make you stop any faster.
You don't need it.
If you race there is only one kit to buy that works.
Save your money.

Curious which one that is.
Any wheel dealer should be able to download wheel fit charts for certain brands that put them on their web site and tell you whether a wheel you want will fit.
What Razz was trying to say is that the shape of the back of the spokes has a lot more to do with whether a BBK will fit than just the offset. If the spokes are out at the face, you get more clearance. If they are pushed in, giving more "lip", you get less clearance.

OK SO HONESTLY EVERYTHING YOU'VE READ ABOVE IS JUST GOING TO MISLEAD YOU....
Technically BBK Clearances have nothing to do with offset as much as it has to do with
"DISK" and "Spoke Architecture"
NOBODY CAN MAKE A BLANKET STATEMENT AND SAY
ALL +35 OFFSETS WILL CLEAR BRAKES, THAT MAKES NO SENSE.
i.e.
ENKEI RPF1 18x9.5 +45: DOES NOT CLEAR ENDLESS BRAKES
5Zigen FN01RC, in a +45 offset: WOULD CLEAR ENDLESS BRAKES if they made it.
The RPF1 spokes bow inward causing a loss in "caliper clearance"
The FN01RC is a flatter spoke with a thicker disk and results in additional clearance.
In regards to MULTIPIECE WHEELS you need to look at
DISK
FOR RAY's: "A", "B", "C" disk
WORK: A, O, L, R are various nomenclature
AME: HI, LOW, Super LOW, etc....
LASTLY,
BBK AND LIP ARE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL.
WHEN YOU GET BBK YOU LOSE LIP FOR THE MOST PART, Just a FACT.....
(+ BBK) = (- LIP)
If you want solid advice PM me or another Rim Guru and that way you can hold a professional responsible for the information you receive.
THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE FITMENT IS TO DO THIS ORDER:
1. CHOOSE WHAT BRAKE SYSTEM YOU WANT
2. GET CALIPER CLEARANCE DRAWINGS FROM MANUF.
3. CHOOSE WHEEL
4. CONTACT PROFESSIONAL WITH ALL YOUR MATERIALS AND HAVE THEM VERIFY WITH MANUFACTURER.
That's how we do it. This way the Manufacturer is held responsible and you get REAL CONCRETE INFO.

^^^+1 on what was said above^^^
but you also gotta look at the pad sizing aside from just disk type. most manufacturers will have designations on wheel offsets and disk types on their sizing chart. much like how they designate gtr spec wheels with bbk clearance.

totally, but that's hard to get info on unless you have the CAD Drawings for the wheels. It's very rare that the Manufacturers supply that.
The clearance closer to the hub of the wheel can be greater than towards the edge of the rim lip, all based on spoke architecture. This is why i have had a job for the last 14 years. hahahaha....
Multipiece wheels can get complex and if the end user isn't careful an expensive mistake can be made.

hey well let me ask you a question i'm looking at the sf challenges or the gt-7 what kind of setup would i need to fit endless or stoptech bbk on there?

Well for sure it would be HIGH Disk for both wheels. For Volks that's A disk.
So we have to find associated widths and offsets in A disk that will work on the 8. NOW That's NO GUARANTEE UNTIL.....
I email Mackin with the brake clearance data and have them approve it. that way both of us would be protected.
Send me a PM if you're ready to order and I'll do the legwork for you. First i'm gonna quote you, if you like then we'll take payment process the order and I'll get it all verified. If for some reason Mackin says it won't work then i'll relay you that info and we have the ability to refund your payment within 30 days.
Thanks,
Rishie
