BF Goodrich KDW2's

BF Goodrich G-Force KDW2
I am looking to purchase new summer tires within a month or so.
My tire of choice right now is the BF Goodrich G-Force KDW2's (I think I'd buy the tire just for the tread design alone...lol)
Anyways, from all the research I've seen this is tire is quite an amazing performer with excellent grip in both dry and wet.
But, and this seems to be a big "BUT", the tire seems to consistently get a bad review for being anywhere from loud to very loud.
My question then is (to anybody running these) would you buy this tire again?....and is the
performance worth the extra noise?
I am looking to put on 235/40/18's, and my 8 is a daily driver which I put a fair bit of miles on each day.....mixed highway and city driving pretty much 50-50.....spirited driving especially in the corners and on-ramps.
Any feedback would be great.....

I had these tires for a few months, they were a bit too noisy for me on the highway. I got a good price on them so, I didn't really mind. BTW, 245/40/18 is the standard upgrade when purchasing new tires for a stock rim.

they handle extremely well for their wear rating, but have a reputation for being noisy on rough road surfaces

I actually don't mind these. I got these from a friend - and i prefer them over my Falken 452's. A lot of people don't like the soft sidewall for the fact it does give a little roll, but IMO, i don't really notice it compared to my 452's.

I'd buy another set for the tread life alone. +1 on going w/245/40

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPic...ce+T%2FA+KDW+2Just ordered my KDW's NT, NT now stands for New Tread.
Apparently a little quieter now??.......we'll see.
Should have them on in about 2 weeks from now. went with 235/40/18's.
Switching over from the stock Dunlop's 8090's.

why would you order those, there are plenty of gripper summer tires for the same or less money

looks to me like all they did was change the name:

old KDW is now KDW TT

old KDW2 is now KDW NT

I'm the complete opposite, I went from KDW's to to Falken 452's and I like them much better. Who knows though, in my head I'm comparing new tires to tires at the end of their life.

By all accounts these tires offer tons of grip (and in the wet too)......I'm not taking her to the track .
The tread wear seems to be excellent for a Y rated speed tire.
And of course the looks.........

KDW2's NT

Well I have had these tires for about 4 days now.
They are not loud at all, may even be quieter than the Dunlops.
There is a little bit of roll to the sidewall when entering a corner but not nearly as much as I was expecting.
The grip on these tires is simply amazing!....I am able to take on-ramps by at least 15-20 klm/hr. faster than the Dunlops with no hint at all of breaking away......probably more as I'm still finding the limits to these tires.
In 4 days I have received 2 compliments already on the look of them.....one of them from a buddy who looked at me and said "what the hell are those?! they look f#>%in awaesome".
I just smile and reply "that's my girl's new shoes".
I think I am most relieved by the fact that they are not as loud as some people considered them in their reviews (after looking a little closer at the reviews the people who considered them very loud were BMW, Nissan and Lexus owners)
Anyways, I'll keep anyone updated after many more fun miles if your looking to purchase the same tire.

Did you find they got loud (or louder) after a "break-in period" of anywhere between 1,000 to 5,000 miles?

KDW2 is great in both wet or dry.
Tire thread is so sexy.
Also they last very long.

The downside is they are so so so noisy.
I have them on for 10,000 miles now.
They are getting louder and louder everyday.

How loud they are?
Louder than my GReddy SP2 when cruising at 60 mph.

Yes, I love them.
But I will try something else next time.

I feel that too.
I put 5 extra psi on for AutoX and it feel a lot better.
So I always keep it +3-4 psi for everyday use.
Again, extra psi = extra noise.

I ran these tires on my Vette and have them in 255/40/18 on the back of my 8. Fantastic tire!

I've been using these tires for the past 4 years.
I agree with most comments above, the handling is amazing and yes, you will get road noise after time.
I plan on purchasing another set next summer.

I have these tires in 245/40 and they are awesome. They have some serious grip. They are not that noisy IMO. Just not the quietest tires, thats all. Also, you gotta love the tread pattern on these tires. I would recommend.

I should have them on my 8 by next week. Thanks to all for the 245/40/18 tip. I cancelled my 225/45/18 purchase once I read this thread.

I'm thinking bout ordering these for my 8 since I have them for my V. When shopping on tirerack.com it gives you 245/40/18 for the rears and 225's for the front. Is that a good way to go, or just get the 245's all around? They're going on the stock wheels btw.

Unfortunately I can agree on the pros you have mentioned for the KDW2, and neither does statistics. They are underperformed when compared to competitors in the same class. Two positives are decent tread wear and good looks. That is about it... There are better overall performing options at the same price or less.

Thread brought back from the dead! Welcome to the KDW club. Ive had mine for about 1,000 miles, and the noise is way overblown. I dont think they are loud at all. I just got back from an autox event and they performed great too
