BFG G-force KD vs. T1-R's vs. ?
I'm looking for a tire for daily driving, not an autocross tire, got that handled. I want something with at least the same dry grip as the OEM potenza's, but a little more wet traction(ok, a lot more) and a lot quieter tire. I know the KDW's are a bit loud, but I heard the KD's were quieter. Also, the T1-r is supposed to be fairly quiet and comfy while still offering more performance.
-Matt
Edit: I'm looking at 245/40R18, I dont know how much the 225 OEM Potenza's weigh, but I'd love to go with a lighter tire. Does anyone have the weight of the OEM potenzas and the above tires in 245 and possibly any others you reccomend?

T1R's will give you everything you are looking for, but not as much grip as the KD's. The KD's will give you much shorter tread life though, and are only marginal in the wet (the T1R's are a bit more toward the dry/wet side) as they offer outstanding dry traction.

don't get caught up in weight, the fastest tire is often not the lightest tire
that said; neither.
If you want the best handling street tire then get the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07. They don't have 245/40-18 though, either 235/40-18 or 255/40-18. They tend to run much wider than other tires for the same size so go for the 235. They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for:

I've got the T1-Rs, and they fulfill Matt's stated desires exactly. I have no problem reccomending them.
But, the Neovas are a better high performance tire. More expensive and won't last as long, though.

I dont need max grip, the RT615's on the stock rims take care of that, But I dont want any less grip than the Potenzas. I do want something that I can at least get 25,000 miles out of, and the weight comment wasnt about speed, I'm going with a lightweight set of rims and wanted to continue the trent with the tires, I wasnt really expecting an increase in speed, but I didnt want to offset my lighter rims with heavier tires...
Other than that my above standards still stand, and sorry I guys, I searched but couldn't find the exact answers...
Other tires I was looking at were the Nitto 555s, Falkin 451's, Michelin Pilot Sport(Non PS2), Goodyear F1
I dont mind spendig about 200 on a tire if it will perform like a 200 dollar tire should...

I replace my OE Dunlops 8090 with, Dunlop Direzza. Love them, grippy and quite.
BTW, sometime you might want to consider the Tread Wear too, since you are looking for some street tires, better tread wear will last u longer.
Hehee..just saw ur thread title, because their trend pattern, T1-R will prob. give you better grip in the rain condition. BFG's will give u more support when cornering.

No one said anything about cost, and I wont be tracking this particular set of tires, so that was the comment about the max grip, I just need enough for public roads, and it looks like the T1-r is the answer.

i have the T1-R's as well, in 245-40, & so far I love them. They are very, very quiet (could just be that I'm so used to the Potenzas...), are comfortable, yet have extremely good grip, dry or wet. I plan on getting another set, but that shouldn't be for quite a while...so maybe the revised model should it have come out by then. Good luck, there are a lot of good tires out there.

I also have the T1R's. Nice amount of grip imo. I've taken them to the canyon roads once and they performed great, very predictable with a nice amount of grip. Also the ride is very nice, and I have 19 inch rims too.
So yea, I don't know much about the other tires, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with the T1R's.

Thats weird, cuz you are the second person I have heard from that they aren't that loud. My wife's highlander is quieter than my 8 now. They really don't have that many miles on them either. I bought them used with TSW Rims. Sounds like a jet taking off and landing. Even with the stereo up and the windows open I can still hear the tires AND I can feel them. What the hell is wrong with my tires???
