BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

Has anyone thought about this tire? BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

The Tire Rack reports that this is the maximum size tires for our stock OEM wheels. Does this sound right? I thought we could use the 245/40's all the way around the car. But they said not on the front. Does anyone have 245/40's on their front wheels?

Tire Rack Recommendations:
Front: 225/45YR18
Rear: 245/40YR18

That tyre is definitly at the top of my list to buy this winter when I have my 8 in storage. All the comments I read on tirerack are very positive, and I am looking for a tyre that will handle track days as well as regular street driving.

Tire Rack is incorrect. Our rims can fit the 245/40/18 on all corners. It is probably even better that we go the same size on all corners as we have nearly 50/50 weight balance. If we go with a staggered setup you might increase understeer. The BF Goodrich Comp TA KDW's are what I would get if I was looking for an all-season maximum performance tire. If not go for the KD's.

The last time I tried to order a set of tires from Tire Rack I ended up cancelling my order and buying them locally. The tires weren't Tire Rack's suggested size (stock was 17" and I was ordering 16") for my GTI and they delaying the shipment twice because they needed to talk to me so I cancelled the order. All of my other encounters with Tire Rack had been good. I'm not saying don't order them from Tire Rack, just be prepared for the phone to ring if you order anything "non-standard."

One thing to note - almost everyone complained about the road noise of these tires, some when they were new, some when they were worn. Personally, I wouldn't want to introduce too much road noise into my RX-8, at least not as long as there are other good tires out there (like the Kumho MX) which seem to be quieter. Of course, if you already have aftermarket exhaust & intake you may not be so concerned about road noise, but to me road noise is bad noise, unlike engine & exhaust noise.

Put your order in through rx8club (so we get credit), but maybe also when they call you talk to Connor from Tire Rack. He posts on this site, and seems to know what we are trying to do.

I'm at 15K on the stock tires, and I need to start putting away money. Are you saying we can get credits or possible discounts if we mention the RX8CLUB?

Sorry Nemesis, not us (getting the discount) but the website gets a 5% commision of we order through the website. Got to help out where we can :

From Boostd :

"Pretty much everybody here has used Tire Rack at one time or another, and we all obviously use the forum. But how can you help both at the same time? Simple, when you order from Tire Rack make sure to use the link to the RX7Club.com Upgrade Garage, here

http://www.tirerack.com/affiliates/...jsp?AFFCODE=AC5

By doing so, the forum will receive a 5% comission on the order, and the price you pay is the same. If you order over the phone and say you are part of RX7Club, we will NOT receive the comission.

If everybody here would use the Upgrade Garage to order, it could be a HUGE help for the forum.

Thank you,
Ryan Scott - BOOSTD 7"

I think the hot pavement coupled with me driving at Warp One took some rubber off the old Potenza's. What do you think of this pick? I have seen good reviews of these, and I luv that tread pattern! Let's see Zoom44, DosDog, Nemesis8, and Fanman on the way North - right?

That link works

probably the best all season maximum performance tire on the market. It is dry as a bone out here so I will probably look at the BF Goodrich Comp TA KD's, Goodyear GS-D3, or Michelin Pilot Sport 2's when my stock tires are done. Your weather a bit (OK, a lot different) different so I think the KDW's will be a very good tire for you. I saw that Costco sells them. It is a bit more but they usually install them, and give lifetime alignment with them too. Do you have Costco up there ?

Guess where I am going tonight... COSTCO! I'll see if I can get a price quoted installed. :p

Here are your Pilot Sports @ COSTCO:
Michelin® Pilot Sport 245/40ZR18 $1,011.96
Installation Package $40.00
Tire Disposal Fee $4.00
Subtotal $1,055.96

They have a $60 total discount on Michelin's right now.

Your right, kind of pricey, but they offer lifetime installation, rotation, and road hazard insurance in that price.

That's actually not too bad. If you consider that Tire Rack has that tire for $226 a piece, not to mention shipping charge, installation charge (rotation & road hazard not included) that's not too bad. Let me know how you like the tires. Did they not have the KDW's ? Also is balancing included in that ? My brother got his tires at Costco and it included lifetime rotation & balancing (not alignment, sorry) but this was like 2 years ago.

I did it online since I am a member - I will go by tonight and confirm everything, then post here. Your right, rotation and balancing - not alignments.

Those are the original KDW's. They did not show the KDW2's, so I will call ahead of driving over maybe.
