Big Brake Kit Questions
If there is another thread similar to this I apologize in advance, I would appreciate it if you could provide a link and I will delete this one.
I have a brake issue with my car. My brakes have been squealing even after I put on the OEM shims and I am running Hawk HP+ pads and cross drilled and slotted rotors from Brakelabs. It is a bit annoying, and it sucks but I was thinking about upgrading my brakes. I plan to do a bit more track racing this summer than AutoX and I figure why not upgrade when my car is not in use in the winter. I did some research regarding BBKs vs upgrading pads and rotors and it seems as if BBKs will provide better braking due to the surface area of the rotors but it would mess up the cars braking distribution. Anyone that runs BBKs or knows anything about this topic, if you can clarify, it would be greatly appreciated. I think I read too much information and got confused over it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a thread (op was polak) reviewing racing brake bbk that I just got done reading. Also some of teamrx8 posts on these are good.
In general, the OE system is very good, but there is room for improvement. A properly tuned/proportioned system should be just fine.
But i would suggest what you are dealing with can be fixed without a two grand investment. Experimenting with pads and rotors is cheap.

I read that thread by PoLak in its entirety and the last few pages were about clearing Enkei wheels which is helpful since I run the RPF-1s and some have had issues with some rubbing on the lower ball joint. Lowering rotational mass is really easy to understand. Like Jedi said I'm curious about BBK vs. upgrading to just a stock size.
