Woooooooooooo, I wrote a new jingle for Ozzy and MDWs shops, I deserve some reimbursment! Paypal is accepted.

I'd like to teach the world bling
and roll on dubs like me
I'd like to teach the world to be
a rice boy just like me
I'd show some chrome and fender strakes
and then they'd buy from me

In reference to Ike and his continuous, sensless, blabber-mouthing. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why or how this guy has the time to waste on a forum for owners of a car that he doesn't even have.

As for your little jingle, it's just what I'd expect from some jackass with that kind of time on his hands. However, you mentioned it was for my shop along with Ozzy's, using the line: "and roll on dubs like me." Although I don't generally use terms like "dubs," I do believe that's a term for a 20" chrome wheels which I DO NOT HAVE. So, for God's sake Ike, if you're gonna take the time to write a song, at least write it about someone that it actually applies to.

Does that mean I'm not getting paypal? What if I changed dubs to Motegi's?

it's so funny to see the majority doing wheel swaps for a reaction from other people...there is a difference between being unique and standing out...so sorry all the people with chrome are putting this on to STAND OUT not be unique...i don't care what you say...the RX-8 is a performance car bordering on sports car, IMO,why on earth would you put 20"+ on it? WHY?...there isn't a point unless you feel like you deserve attention and don't care if it's negative or positive...I HATE the look of chrome on the 8 (well I take that back, KelRX-8 has a very tasteful application of 20" wheels on his) but the majority of those who have chosen to ruin the stylistic composure of the 8 have done it distastefully...i mean really i can't see why you would buy the 8, other than because it's a great performer...this, as soon as engine modifications are stable and fully supported by an ECU, is going to be a stupendous track performer...not that it already isn't...so why on earth would you put such crap on the car, unless you're starved for attention...

I bought the car because it, to me, out performed the Z and G35...for what I wanted...I can't stand to be the center of attention and can't stand the gawking that people do over the car...now to be a hypocrite...I understand the gawking from a car enthusiast POV, because I am one...i talk to people with unique cars and ask them questions but at the same time I respect the owners and "try" not to stare too much...i guess all this rambling leads to my same old quam with these big wheels people are putting on the 8...it's dumb...it's the same thing as buying a go-cart and taking off the wheels and replacing them with ones from an ATV...WHY NOT BUY THE DAMN ATV!!!!...

I'm just with the small minority that changes my ride for ME and ME alone...i could care less if someone stares at it, likes it, hates it, or whatever..I didn't pay $30,000 to have some one else like or compliment my car....

It goes back to why I won't hire any fresh college grads...they are to focused on the "aesthetics" of the situation at hand not the whole picture...not being an A$$ but the younger crowds these days are just to damn concerned with how things look and are to narrow minded to go deeper in to the underlying details......

It does seem crazy, but owners of the same car can be very different in how they use their car and what they want their car to look like. I deal with it every day, and alot of what people do to their cars makes no sense to me. But, it doesn't have to make sense to me, just as long as they're content.

I've always tried to find a happy medium between style and performance when accessorizing my vehicles. The closest my car will ever get to a race track might be driving past one. For me, the cosmetic advantage of having chrome wheels in a plus 1" size outweighed the performace disadavantage. Others may see it differently, but to me the drop in performance is barely, if at all noticable. I'm sure it would show up on a timed run, but I haven't noticed it in my daily driving. I have a car that looks great to me and is fast enough for me and I'm happy with it.

too much chrome on an 8. 8s are suppose to be a "true sports car". sports car (sports) usually means performance. that chrome looks like its ready for smoe SUVs and still be too much chrome. please stick with the tuner wheels. those fit well and actually looks a million times better than those iced wheels.

I have decided to chrome my car. Any suggestions as to where to do it? j/k, Chrome on an 8 is just flat out tacky. To each his own. Lets all remember what we drive. The best damn sports car for the $ period. (I don't care what you evo and rex fans say I used to own a rex and It may outperform and is a great car but do not compare it). So back to my chrome car with gold wing on trunk. You think Luda will call me up for next video?

what about a so called ''bling'' rim the maido 19 inch st5. they are on a silver 8 at cardomain.com but he has 20's. would anyone think that 20's are to big for an 8. mdw33333 is right. my first reaction would be 20's are way too big for an 8 especially if it weighs as much as ''bling'' rim. but when you look at them you tend to say they look really good. so i agree with mdw33333 it depends what fits and looks good (within reason for a sports car) even if it is chrome or gun metal

Bling could work on an RX-8, but you have to pick your spots. Wheels like the Lexani make the car look cheap, almost like a 1996 Nissan Maxima on dubs. Puke. If you want good chrome wheels, stick with a design that works with the natural lines of the car. I won't make any recommendations, but bling can still look clean.

Hey folks, we all have our preferences (mine happens to not include chrome), but ultimately, each one can choose to personalize his '8 any way he/she chooses. Although I would not get chrome, I can certainly appreciate someone else's preference for it. I enjoy seeing what other's have done with their '8's to make them different, but in the end as long as the owner is happy with the way it looks, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Mod away!! :D

OK, I went for the bling.

Picked up some Fittipaldi T5Ps 18 X 8.5 at Discount Tire. They are about the same weight as the stock wheels, I believe. I think the chrome looks good with the black. I bought some silver touch-up paint to do the mesh and the vents, and will prolly get the silver gas cap to finish it off.

I think Bling and rice can be summed up by two shows.

MTV's Pimp My Ride = ALL BLING.
Always shiny sparkley and full of worthless crap in unpractical locations (TVs in a VW Baja Buggy's doors... which they have turned "suicide", or should I say "freestyle". :P

Tuner Transformation = Tuner + Rice.
Sometimes they focus on the Tuner alone. They took an STI, got rid of the scoop and wing and loaded it up with performance mods. Usually they stick with 80% tuner and 20% rice. Rice being "racer inspired" mods (like wings and body kits) that do nothing for the actual performance of a car, but give it the illusion of enhanced performance.

If anyone is interested in a show called Pimp My Rice, check out the 17 year old kids with busted body kits in front of my house on Friday nights while they try and figure out how to get home unnoticed. We'll take a kids busted rice rocket, put on a new kit put TVs on the outside of their doors with a permanent **** vid loop and fill up the back seat with a giant aqurium and some LEDs. We'll put 20" chromed spinners, while doing nothing to the brakes, engine beyond more chroming. We may slam the suspension with the cheapest springs we can find though, so the kid has to take every little speed bump at a 60 degree angle.

For my limited funds I'd say the proper mix is 5% Bling (rotary accent package, decent stereo), 5% Rice (appearance package and footwell lighting), 90% Tuner (slotted breaks, steel braided lines, blower, sways, ms springs, exhaust, cold air intake and afterburners)!

Well, I'm getting some serious and perhaps dangerous rubbing on the back tire with the +20 offsets on these wheels, so I'm going to have to replace them. It doesn't look like rolling the fender will be enough.

Bummer.

I'm considering the Enkei PK6. I have to have an 8.5 or wider wheel to accomodate the 275s.
