I just bought a used rotora 6 pistol big brake kit from a guy(swift) from this forum. I bought it for 1000 dollar and it is in excellent condition. so i got a great deal on the kit. I am putting it on next week in my school. Hope i can feel the different but the kit look Freaking great, with huge cliper and huge cross drilled/slotted rotor.

There's a 4th factor too, I think, related to #1. That's the larger diameter rotor used in most BBK (gi brake kits) provides a slightly longer lever arm (i.e. radius) working against wheel rotation ~ innital application of brake force will innitiate deceleration sooner than with a smaller radius lever.

I was wondering about the Anti-Braking System. If you indeed upgrade the brakes and replace them with a big brake kit system, how does it effect the ABS. Does the ABS go away? and the power of the new kit take its place or does the ABS still there? sorry if thats a dumb question, im a noob on braking system and this question has been haunting my mind for the longest time LOL! ABS gone or no? thnx. :D

can anyone elaberate on my question please? when you upgrade brakes (the whole 9 yard) upgrade, does the ABS go away?

ABS works off the rotational speed of the wheels. If the system thinks the wheels are close to lockup them the ABS will start pulsing to keep traction. A poorly designed brake upgrade may engage ABS more frequently but it will not stop it from working.
If you have your car up on a hoist one day have a look at the axle assembly and you will see what looks like a square toothed gear behind the hub. This is the tone ring used to calculate wheel speed via a sensor. It's not conected to the brakes.

Its important to note when looking at "BBK reviews vs stock setups" that they are almost always comparing "worn" stock components to "new" BBK components.

Rotors and pads are wear items. The only true comparison you'd ever find with a stock system vs a bbk system would be if both were brand spanking new...which never happens. Its almost always a comparison against a worn stock system (15-30k miles) vs a brand new BBK system. Even so, generally the results aren't very favorable, unless the manufacturer is smart enough to do a few 120-0 stops and take the average.

Here's something to think about. I drive a mazda 6, which weighs roughly 200-300 lbs more then your 8's. What size are my front rotors? 11.0 x1. Do I get brake fade at the track running Carbotech XP9's? No.

IMO the 8's brakes are already rediculously oversized for the application. Hell, your standard application is bigger then most other car's BBK's.

Here's an article dennis cook wrote awhile ago on common brake misconceptions. (You know, like cross-drilling reducing rotor heat...which is impossible, because your reducing the rotors mass, and metal > air when it comes to heat dispersion)
