bridgestone potenza s-04 pole position

Hi guys,
My tires are almost worn out. The girl at the dealer was funny. She says "I'm not sure whether it's a camber issue or just aggressive driving." Anyway, I'm rather pleased with the Yokohama A13s that came with the car. The problem is they are expensive.
So, I'm curious what you guys think of the potenza s-04. It must be good because it's got "pole position" in the title

I have no idea about the BP s-04s, but to keep in the Yoko family, I highly recommend the Yoko Advan Neova AD08. Awesome tire, and if you're at 245/40/18 they only $200 more than the BPs. Not sure if that's in budget and I know I didn't answer your question. Sorry

i have a car and driver issue that pits a bunch of tires together. The S04PP was second to Michelin Pilot SS

I've ran the MPSS and they are great on the street, but they don't come close to the Yokos on the track.

^ I concur about the street part.. I have Michelin Pilot SS on my rear wheels and their awesome for street driving and take a beating (few drifts and burnouts lol) They grip great on slick roads as well as in the rain. Wasnt surprised seeing them as No.1 on this list. I always felt they were underrated.

I bought a set of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my car three months back to replace a set of some very worn Yokohama Advan AD07. I have been dazzled by them. Great street tire, bar none. Highly recommended.

(Note: I have not tried them in the wet as the NW has had a lack of moisture this summer, but I believe I will not have any issues with the way they handle.)

I have the old S-03, and I love them, Great Street tires. Now after reading the car and driver tire test and tire rack review test, I will most likely go with the Michelin pilot super sport!!!;-)

Just be warned about track use with the MPSS. They do ok, but they take away a lot of confidence. They feel like they get pulled under while in hard turns. I did not like them at all while tracking. They also started to chunk. I was happy to go back to the AD08s

The only reason the Yoks didn't make top grade in the C&D article was wet performance. And that is racing in the wet. I have done track days in the rain with both, but did not push it, and I didn't feel a difference. I had no problems with the Yoks in the rain.

^ Nice tires, for sure, but I wouldn't go that far. I've got RE050 PPs on my FD, and I have no doubt the RE-11 offers better dry grip; and better grip vs the S-04 also.

That C&Dtest seems to always have some weird rankings. There are probably several of those tires they could have ranked #1 based on different weightings of their criteria. The result that the Dunlop and the Hankook got nearly the same wet lap time makes me think that they must have used a lot of water. Enough water to measure the depth. The Dunlops deal with rain much better than the Hankooks in real-life rainy conditions.

I had the S-03 Pole Positions on my Miata, and they were great. I replaced them with the Goodyears that C&D ranked #1 that year, and sold them before they had much wear so I could get another set of S-03s. They handled like marshmallows.

On the RX-8 I have a set of Dunlop Z1*, and I really like them. They're a great all-around tire.
