Camber problem

I was just reading up a little on camber issues when lowering your car. I just replaced my 2 front tires because the wearing on a inside of the tire was so bad, the metal inside the rubber was showing. I never knew there was metal inside of tires lol. Well anyways, I only have Tein S-Techs installed on my 8 with stock shocks. I heard that a camber kit is the way to go with this. I went to Firestone to get an estimate on an alignment and they guy told me $140 for lifetime at any Firestone, which seems like a good deal to me. He told me with a camber kit included in the cost of an alignment, it would run me somewhere around $400. I was wondering if I got a coilover kit, would that fix the camber problem? I read somewhere on here that the Megan Racing coilovers have camber adjustability.

Oh, I haven't taken my car to get the camber measured yet, but it looks like it's around -2 degrees or around that area.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/t16284.html check your own camber with common tools. Our car has some adjustability from the factory, so you shouldn't need a camber kit to correct some springs. The people that get coilovers to fix their camber problem want more negative camber lol. It sounds like you want less.

The only problem with Firestone I have heard is that they won't do extreme camber past factory specs so make sure you check with them if you decide to go that route.

you don't need a camber kit.

But you do desperately need an alignment. Any alignment shop should be able to do the adjustments you need.

Camber probably isn't the issue anyways. It is probably the Toe. When the car is lowered it gains camber, but also gains toe-in, which is what will really cause rapid wear on the inside of the tires.

Any time you modifiy the suspension, you NEED to get an alignment. It sounds like you didn't and now you know better.

what you need is somebody who knows how to align a car and a properly calibrated alignment rack

I am waiting for my Coilovers to arive and I put them on before I take the car in for an alignment. The tires are already tilted in a bit and once i get the Coilovers on they may tilt even more. Do you think an alignment will take of the wheel tilt or will I need to get a camber kit?

Did you read this thread at all? Your wheels are supposed to "tilt" a little bit. The stock alignment is set up that way. You will need an alignment after getting the coilovers, but do not need a camber kit.
