coilover settings ?

I have a set of coilover installed, HKS HiperMax III, and the Front and rear settings are about 10 for the front, and 5 to the rear.

IS it kinda too hard on the front? cuz at the track I had MAD bodyroll.

I know Im still on stock sways so that might be a problem. Im going to swap it with Autoexe sways tomorrow. but still, any idea about coilover's settings ?

any help appreciated !

Springs (swaybars are springs) control the peak amount of roll, dampers (settings) control the rate the car rolls. Increasing the damping/roll resistance would slow the rate the car rolls, transfer weight faster and make the car more responsive (but lose a slight amount of grip).

Interesting... RX8s usually don't roll that much on the JIC FLTA2s. Was the front or rear feeling like it was rolling too much/too fast?

I thought HKS didn't make hipermax 3 for the rx8?

I know in cars like the S2000, HKS sends the hipermax with their recommended setting, ride height out of the box. Leave it on their recommended setting and go from there. Body roll is not always a bad thing.

if u want me to describe I will say its probably the rear that scared me. when taking a hard turn, the car leans to the opposite direction of the turn. Its almost like the car is about to flip or something

They do, I got mine a year ago, but installed about couple months ago.

their recommended height was too low for garbage NYC roads. So I set it a bit higher. maybe thats why ?

Now I set both front and rear to 5. 1 is softest and 30 is hardest. should I set it harder? I had front 15 and rear 8 at the track.

^ I think you are talking about Hipermax II. Are the coil springs white?

30 settings why are you starting at 15? Go a lot higher closer to 30, if not 30. I would honestly use HKS recommended setting for track in the beginning, they know their stuff.

Try setting the rears at 10 and see what happens when you slow down the roll of the rear.

Weird, HKS USA doesn't sell it. In the streets, just leave them on what ever setting you want. won't really matter.

I wouldn't leave it full soft for the street, it might be under-damped and cause the car to oscillate/bounce around (shock not controlling the spring). Play with the settings and figure it out for yourself.

I wasn't aware the Hypermax III dampers had 30 settings, definately try going a bit stiffer. Trial and Error.

HKS is like that, there are quite a lot of things that Japan has them but not US, vice versa.

HiperMax III is one of them. They have it only for japan, but it shouldn't be hard to get them.

I got mine when I was in Hong Kong Last Summer (2007). but haven't had a chance to install it till early summer this year.

Its pretty impressive I gotta say. It cost about the same as Mazdaspeed's coilover. I never had Mazdaspeed's coilover but, I think I would rather get HiperMax III than Mazdaspeed's.

Thats EXACTLY what is happening.

Today, I left it at around Front 7 and rear 5. Tomorrow gonna wake up early to raise the car even more(damn NYC roads!) and put the sway bar in, then Im gonna go around my area to test the settings.
