"Cold Season" wheel/tire plans, any suggestions?
Just got my RX-8 and I'm making plans to purchase a set of wheels and tires for the next "cold season."
I say cold season because I don't think that I need snow tires as we don't get a large amount of snow here. But the fact that we get any snow at all means that the stock RE040 tires aren't going to cut it.
So, I'm looking for a set of all-seaon radials to go on a set of 17" rims that I will be buying at the same (probably Falken Hanabi in 17x7.5). Since purchasing my RX-8 has got me stretched a little thin in the liquid capital department, my primary concern is price followed by performance (If I find a way to overdrive an H-rated or better all-season on city streets, I should just surrender my license right there).
It looks like the lowest cost all-season on TireRack is the Kumho ASX while DiscountTire and EdgeRacing have the Hankook Ventus HRII H405.
Anyone have any comments on those two or suggestions for another radial?
