Custom Wheels on a Lease

So my lease is almost up and if I get a new 8, I'm thinking maybe I'd like some different custom wheels. Do I have any options that don't buy me two sets of wheels? In other words if I'm spending all this extra money for custom wheels, I'd want them part of the lease, but ALSO I don't want to pay for the factory wheels too. Trying to keep costs down you know. I liked the look of those madza speed wheels.

I've never leased a car but from my understand of things, it's best to to put any extra money into a leased vehicle. I couldnt justify spending 2000+ dollars for custom rims/tires and know I would only be able to use them for X amount of months before I had to give up the car.

Just my $0.02

YOu will pay for the cost of the OEM wheels still because they are part of the standard package pricing of the vehicle. They may offer you a discount of some sort for buying additional wheels. Be sure to not put too much aftermarket money into a leased vehicle unless you plan on buying it later.

Remember if you buy wheels in the lease, you're not paying full price, just like your not paying full price for the car, so its ok to give them up :-). As much as I like that car, I think I'm starting to hate the wheels.

I'm happy with the OEM wheels, I wouldn't mind getting something else but the dealer was trying to sell me these very nice black chrome wheels for like 1200 a piece, and that's rediculous.

Keep in mind that everything can be sold - if you buy wheels for your leased car today, just turn the car in with the factory wheels/tires at the end of the lease... and sell the aftermarket wheels to any of the thousands of RX-8 owners.

Besides if you want those "Mazda Speed wheels" will cost you a grip. At least 800+ for each wheel.

I like the look of the Madzaspeed wheels definitely. I have only seen pictures of the gold ones though, not the metalic. Any suggestions for something similar but more affordable? Also anyone know where I can find pics of the metalic ones ON A CAR?

they're made by Rays Engineering/Volk, you can't buy the exact thing except from MazdaSpeed, but you can get something almost the same

or if you can qualify for the racer program you can get them for a lot less, the gold 8" wheel is under $500 each there

my thought on custom rims and wheels for our car:

I love them -- in my mind they are the best damn looking stock OEM wheels, my other favs are the rims on the BMW M6 and 7-series. On more then one occasion I've had people ask me "what kinda rims are those, they look custom" And I told them they are the stock 18's it came with.

On another now im happy to have a car that actually HAS rims - the only car I had before this was a 98 Saturn SL1 with the "pimpin" hubcap covers.
