Do the 040s suck as much as it seems like they do?

I, too, will be getting the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 as soon as I wear these out. Can't wait. =)

I was OK with the stock 040's for the first 10K miles or so (but then I had no reference to compare them to), but I now have 32.5K them and they are absolutely unbearable now - loud as hell and no grip. They have sucked for a while, but like Rotario I couldn't justify replacing them while they still have tread. I even had a leak in one tire that required airing up the tire every few days but dealt with it (for a long time now!). But a recent trip to FLA imprinted in my mind that these tires were actually dangerous in the rain now! I felt like I was driving on steel roller skate wheels while other people motored by me with ease thru some steady down pours!

How do you like your GY's Paul? I have a set of GS-D3's from TireRack that just arrived at PBC today and I'm having installed next week. The 040's actually still have a few thousand miles of tread in them, but I can't take it anymore. Plus, I'm leaning heavily towards running the track day at Summit next month. I'm planning on burning the **** out of the 040's this Sunday to celebrate!
