Does anyone have these brakes....are they any good?

Hey guys,

I need to replace my rotors and pads when I pull out my RX-8 this summer, so I was thinking about purchasing this rotor/pads package....

http://www.rx7store.net/RX_8_Brake_R...%20upgrade.htm

For about $100 more I can get the same package with stainless-steel brake lines....here are my questions:

1) Does anyone have this package and if so, is it reliable and good?
2) Should I get the package with the stainless-steel brake lines or without?
3) Any other rotors/pads combo for around the same price?

I'm also in Canada, so I have to keep in mind the shipping costs.

Thanks a lot guys and God bless.

Ben.

What is your intended use? Spirited driving, autocross, track days, lazy Sunday drives?

I've used the Hawk HPS pads before, and they are a great street pad. They will be a bit more aggressive than stock, but are still low dust / low noise / low rotor wear.

I have no experience with that brand of rotors.

I havnt heard anything about those. But if you are Daily driving your 8, dont get drilled rotors. You will go through pads like crazy.. I went with the Racing Brake Slotted/Vented rotors with the Hawk HPS pads. Plenty of stopping power.

I have them and they are pretty good. I also have Hawk performance ceramic pads and the combination is awesome for daily driving. I also Auto-x'd with these and had no problems whatsoever. I would recommend ceramic pads because I hated the brake dust, and there was next to no loss in braking performance.

Thanks guys! They are mostly for street/spirited driving, so I think I'll go for these.

Should I pay the extra $100 or so to get the stainless steel brake lines or not....is that worth the money?

Not unless there is something wrong with your current brake lines.

i have that combo as well. seem pretty good for me and normal use. i haven't put them to any real tests yet though.

only thing i would suggest is to paint more of the rotor face black. there is a small ring that the brake pad does not pass over and you will have a rust ring. the center hats are already painted black and look very nice instead of rusted OEM's.

This is who i have used before. Twice on my 04 and now on my 07. Ive had good results. Tried another brand when i first got my 07 and got rid of them immediately.

Good luck on whatever you choose!
