Eibach or Tein

I want to put some new springs on my car for the added look and performance gain, but i dont know which to choose. The Eibach Pro-kit or the Tein S-tech? appreciate your input

they are both awsome kits as far as what your looking for. im personaly buying the tein setup because its cheaper and rides excellent. i have a good freind that has them installed, the ride is a good bit more stiff but the car is on rails even more so than it is in stock form. the eibachs are sweeet im sure just for the fact that they are kinda an icon for springs and such.

I only have experience with the S-Techs. I will say that I was deciding on which of these I wanted when I was shopping for springs a few years back. It basically came down to price and drop.

I liked that the Eibach drop was going to be lower, but the fact that it drops it evenly was what steered me away. When you look at the car there is a huge front wheel gap but its not that bad in the rear. That is why I chose the S-Techs. It gives it a nice drop without going overboard, and cleans up the difference in gap front to rear. Not to mention the price was really good compared to the Eibachs.

As far as ride quality, there wasn't too much of a difference between the Teins and stock. Just a little stiffer which wasn't bad at all. It does take some getting used to as far as the speed bumps and pulling out of certain driveways. I can't really say anything bad about them, I was very pleased.

That being said, when you are shopping for S-Techs it has been known that some of them are cheap replicas. Check out the Tein USA site for more info on how to spot a replica. They are realatively cheap anyways so I wouldn't take the chance to save 40 dollars with getting a bad product. I ordered mine from DPE which has since left the business, but I'm sure some of the other vendors on this site can get them at a good price and you won't need to be worried about fake springs.

thanks, i appreciate it a lot. i read something like that the eibachs "on average, 2.75 pounds lighter than competitor's performance springs. This reduction of unsprung mass is equivalent to removing 50 pounds from your car!" is there any truth behind this

If you are going to get Tanabes get the GF210's They are the best! That what I had on my old RX-8 and I'm getting installed in my RX-8 that I have right now.

I would not get the Enkies do a search on them on here they have had probs. Get the Tein S-Tech.

I think dominion meant Eibachs? to play devils advocate, i have the Eibach pro kit. 1.2" drop all around... good for more then a spirited drive, but if you plan on doing autocross, track days. You'll want a regular consistant spring vs progressive, then you can have your shock manage the bound rebound more consistantly IMO.

i'd go Tein Super street coil overs, or the Tanabe 7's, both have an option for an electronic cabin controller. But the Tanabe looks to be more manageble being you can preset damping force based on speed, vs 3 settings the Tein stores...

No.

Lighter springs and shocks do reduce unsprung weight. This will help your car track the road better, since the suspension has less mass to accelerate when it encounters a bump.

However, to get the multiplicative benefits of reduced weight like you stated above, that weight has to be rotational weight, i.e., wheels and/or tires. In addition, the mutiplying effect is based on the distance of that weight reduction from the center of the hub. In other words, shaving 2 pounds out of the center of the wheel will have basically the same accelerative effect as reducing the sprung weight by 2 pounds, while mounting a tire that is 2 pounds lighter (the tire is further from the center of the wheel) might be worth 3-4 pounds of sprung weight.

My bro inlaw was a loyal Eibach follower.. to this day i don't know why. He's complained about them so many times... Personally i've dealt with Teins, H&R and Tanabes... but in your case, i'd choose the S-Techs...

Coilovers is a whole different story...if you start talking about coilovers, this thread is deemed worthless since your initial inquiry was about the Eibach or Tein springs. Have a nice day and good luck.
