Enkei RPM2 - 17X9 +40 - On All 4 Wheels

For anyone wondering if 17 X 9 will fit in the front and rear...

My new wheels and tires arrived yesterday. I just got back from Discount Tire and had the 17X9 +40 Enkei RPM2 with Falken RT-615 255/40/17 test fitted. They cleared the Brake Calipers just fine.

The overall diamater of the tire (wheel+tire) is about an inch shorter than what i have now. It looked like there shouldn't be any rubbing issues. I'll update how they feel in the near future.

I never liked how these rims looked like on our cars from the pics I had seen... but in real life they look really good. I'm not picking them up for about another month, at which time i'll post pics.

Why are you going with only 17's?

I talked to my Discount Tire store about getting these rims in 18" last fall. They said they were discontinued. I knew they were available from other venders.

RX8 Zoom Zoom,
I still have my 19s, but i'm going with 17s for autocross/drift/track days. It'll be cheaper to replace the tires.

alnielsen,
I was also told they were discontinued. I bought the last set available in this size... and hence at a really low close out price.

Can you meausure how much clearance you have between the spoke and the caliper face? I have different calipers and am wondering if they will clear them.

Thanks, Rishie

Did you get Hyperblack?

since you have aftermarket street wheels (those g-games 99B's look freaking awesome on your blue 8, by the way...), & now aftermarket trackwheels, do you worry about the speedometer at all? have you already purchased that 'yellow box' reset thing, or is it just not a concern? reason i ask is i hope to be able to put myself in a similar situation someday...

oh yeah, & yay me for 200 high quality posts! yessssssssssssssss....

Rishie,
I don't have the rims on the car at the moment. I'm not picking them up from Discount until right before our first race which i don't think is until mid march (spreading the $$), but as soon as I get them on again I'll measure it for ya. Teek Hai? All I can say now is that there was alot of extra room. How much that is exactly... i have no clue.

Hosteen,
In 17X9... they only come in hyper black. If you click on the picture in my first post... it'll take you to the Enkei site which lists available finishes, offsets, and weights.

zaglo6204,
Thanks, and I never really gave the speedometer much thought. I actually keep my car in KM/H (to match the gauges - all metric). I'm more concerned with the rate of change in speed than my actual current speed. Granted if the speedo is off, that Delta Change will be off as well... but i'm not looking for exact numbers. Just more of a general idea of the acceleration.
Since this whole car is driven by the computer, do you know any other possible negative effects to having an incorrect speedometer reading? If so, i'd like to know (time for me to do a search). Thanks!

ive got race tire take offs from my other car that are 275/40/17 and 315/35/17.

anyone try a 315 in the rear? i think id need a 10" minimum wheel width for a 315 and probably a rolled fender.

how is the clearance in the front with a 9" at lock and full droop and bump at lock?

For 315, your definetely looking close to 10-11" in the rear. Unless your running an insane amount of boost, 275 on all 4 should be enough.

In regards to my clearance, I know they will clear but by how much... i'm not sure. I'm going to pick up the wheels next thursday, i'll let you know at that time.

Update:

I just got the wheels put on earlier today.

There's no rubbing from the front tires.

The car now rides with the MS kit and MS Springs/Shocks at 101mm (4") off the ground from the very front of the bumper. For me this is a little too low, but since i'll only have them on the car about 2 days a month... it should be ok.

I'll post some quick pics of the wheels tomorrow.

Thanks, Rishie
The brake clearances on the front and rear are 44.45 mm (1.75") from the nearest point on the spoke.
