Fat Tires

Fat Tires
Sometimes I see mustangs and other car's with really fat rear tires. I think that looks pretty cool and mean. But if you were to do that on our car's wouldnt that sacrifice some handling?

I'm pretty sure he means fat = wide tires.
The wider your tires, the more traction you will get, and the more resistance your car will have. Your mileage may go down, your handling will change if you have wider rears...
Also it becomes easier to hydroplane.
I have 245/35/19 on my car, works pretty well, I don't think I'd go with much wider, though I have seen 275's on an RX-8.
Your car doesn't put out so much power that your wheels can't grip without some wide *** slicks... so in this case, going wide would be for looks, and it would tend to hurt performance.

The biggest I have seen on an RX8 is 275's on the back. Unless you have massive hp upgrade there is not a need for this size tire in the back, as you will increase understeer by staggering the widths of the car's tires. I would say 245's will give you the best of both worlds. Increased traction, and they will fit up front as well so you will have more neutral handling.

Nothing like a lot of meat! Here is one of my husbands cars, we are currently building a prostreet 64 Ford Falcon Sprint with 33's. I hope to keep this car till it dies, then in goes the real horsepower.
