Feeling Unsafe - Question about tires
Hey guys, I need some expert opinion here, please. I just had the rear tires changed on my RX-8. The shop didn't do a good job. They damage the wheels, and after driving 400 miles, my tires are low on air. I'm going to address all of that with the tire shop. (Anyone in MN know a place that can partially repair damage to a polished aluminum rim?)
Here's my major concern though - my car doesn't feel like it handles like it used to. The steering does not feel responsive - like there's a major lag in the car's reaction to my steering. It's actually so bad that I was afraid to change lanes at 70 mph because it felt so loose. I tried some very small "s-curves" just to feel the reaction time, and two major issues. 1) The car lagged, it was like it was out of control and I was counter steering to keep it from spinning/flipping and 2) all three times I did the small s-curves, I actually heard a disturbing sound - almost like a tire was skidding sideways, or moving on the axle, or something.
Am I over reacting out of paranoia, or is something seriously wrong with this thing?

What tires were you on and what tires are you running now??
Different tires can make a huge difference is handling capabilities.
I hope you didn't pay the shop after they damaged your wheels

Went from F1's to Direzza dz101's on accident. I wasn't very diligent - I've learned my lesson there. I was kinda in a hurry, said "pull your z-rated's" and picked a tire. Turns out they aren't z-rated.
The front tires weren't changed though - i woulda thought new fronts would make it feel slippery, but new rears maybe not so much?
Unfortunately the shop got paid, it was dark in the shop and I never thought to look for damage. I noticed it after I got home. He did say he would pay for repairs, but I can't seem to find anyone who can repair them. I have to stop in and talk to him Monday about replacing them or something.
