Found a awesome tire, need help
heres the link for the tires
http://www.hankooktireusa.com/produc...ail.asp?pid=86
I read a review from car and driver stating that they have incredible dry performance, and they are dirt cheap.
the closest size match thay have is 235/40/18, is this acceptable on the stock rim?
want to avoid any kind of rubbing, tpms glitch, mph gauge off.. etc....
here is a link to the car and driver article

thanks for the help!

bah... I'm getting soo many different answers its frustrating...
The dealership and the tire shop said do NOT put 235/40/18 on the stock rim..
they showed me on ther little mathmatical chart thats its like a -2.0 difference from stock size, which will result in mph gauge failure, rim damage from potholes...etc.
theoretically I should gain a little acceleration from a "40" over a "45"...
anyway... still deciding I know i will regret throwing the Kumho SPT's back on..
currently running Kumho SPT in the front and OE Potenza in the back (which are pancakes)... i know it sux having mismatch..

Check out the tyre bible ...it has a tire calc that will show you the difference between the sizes and tell you how much your speedo will be off.

The dealer wants you to buy OEM tires from them at their inflated price. Yes your speedo will be off and you will be slightly more susceptible to rim damage, but the difference is only a few percent and if there aren't that many potholes in your area you should be okay. However, I'm not sure if you want to deal with those since the Ventus aren't really that great. In my opinion you're better off putting on a set of correct size SPTs even taking into consideration the extra grip the Ventus will give.

True. I once saw a RX-8 with 235/40-18s and I didn't know they weren't correct sized until the owner told me. I guess I'm just a stickler when it comes to this sort of stuff and so would rather have the correct sized tires if they were available.

those calculators are inaccurate, you need to use the manufacturer's stated diameter because the actual OD varies from the stated sidewall size spec
and small changes won't "kill" your mileage, the actual rpm change for this particular size is small, it only raises 3700 rpm to 3817 rpm

well, ive researched around enough.. ive decided to just keep it simple.
going with these - BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 size - 225/45/18

I'd recommend the 245/40-18 if you go that way, we have those on our street RX-8, you'll need to run the front pressures high for good response and grip; low - mid 40 psig range

I'd bet you can't even drive consistent enough to stay in the last 5% let alone the last 0.5% ....
